I took a friend to a spot and saw nothing but does until just before dark. We were up on a ridge and I heard branches breaking below us when a nice juicy 6-point came out at 160 yards. He is currently looking for it. Hope to get pics soon. Also saw wolf tracks, griz tracks and 4-wheeler tracks where they aren't suppose to be. Apparently the lazy slob idiot needs a tune-up, but that's another subject.
Opening day I hiked for an hour and a half in the dark to find 13 four wheelers riding illegally. All access roads are gated and it's a restricted travel area. On Monday morning I went and talked to the local forest service ranger guy and he put a stop to it. Monday afternoon there were no four wheelers around and the elk finally came out and I shot this bull with my 280. It feels great to beat the slobs on the 4x4s!
Nice Bull. My trip go t cancelled due to complicatiosn with my wifes pregnancy but my buddys are still over there hopefully they had as good of luck. They are down in the Ruby River Valley.
Great Bull, and I must say your in great shape, thats a heavy load! is the cape rolled with the skull?
Quads..I know that feeling in your stomach when they mess things up.. nice to see your ranger got rid of them, wish we had that kind of enforcement in AZ.
Oldshed, That's a hind quarter and the rack and skull cap. It was very heavy! If I was in better shape I would not have been so sore for the next week.
Sorry guys, I don't want to draw any more attention to the district I shot him in, it's already extremely crowded! I'll just say it was in west central Montana.
