When do moose typically rut? I hunted long and hard saturday. It was hot and the animals were back in the trees by 9 am! I seen two average bulls and a cow! Im hoping the rut will keep the bulls on the move a little more! I walked 12 miles I was hoping to see a bit more!

It might depend on where you are hunting. I've hunted along the Front and heard bulls rutting from the first part of September until Thanksgiving. October is usually a solid month for rut activity though. Hope for a cold snap or a snow storm to boost activity where you are if you are having troubles.
