Roadless got his bull last Saturday. It was about 34" wide and a pretty nice one, the second biggest we saw out of about 20 bulls sighted.
The firsts one we saw was also the biggest one. It had a body like a Sherman tank and antlers well over 40" wide, but hardly any palms. We let it go because the antlers were not impressive and I shot one like that a few years ago that was 10 years old and tougher than shoe leather. You couldn't chew it after 48 hours in a crock pot.
We spent 1/2 day in the Roosevelt burn area and saw a lot of moose, but the bulls were all small and a long way from the road. Since there were only two of us, and no horses, "close to the road" was the most important consideration. We went back to the Sherman tank area and found his bull there.
