My mind couldn't quite believe what I saw cross the road initially, but after the fog of increduality lifted I simultaneously tried to anchor the brakes, grab the camera out of the back seat, and exit the vehicle with my seat belt still clipped. I finally was able to get the rig parked and free myself from the vehicular trappings and take off after him with camera in hand. He was in a such a rutting frenzy that if I stood still for longer than 10-15 seconds, he'd completely forget I was on his heels. Just had to be careful to not alert/disturb the does he was chasing. I'm not sure how long my understanding fiance waited for me, but was able to get some pretty decent photos of a good sized Washington muley buck.
Funny how the really big fellows come out of the woodwork after my tag deer is no longer good for the area!
