I just picked up a new elk buster, rem. 700 ss 338 rem. ultra mag, from a friend at work. I think my elk battery is now complete!
338 rum
300 weatherby
300 win mag.
30/06
308 win
348 win
50 cal. muzzy
I plan on putting a Leupold VXIII stainless finish on it, so it should be waterproof for those Oregon "fall rains".
will load up some accubonds and head for the range.
ANYONE ELSE have a 338 rum? would like to here about some loads or hunting/kills.

I have a custom lightweight on a 70 action, it likes the TSX much better than the accubond or partition.

No hunting stories , it kicks so damn bad it stays at home and I use my 300 win.

I do not own a 338 RUM but am quite interested in ballistics. I have long held the 338 RUM as one of THE most powerful cartridges on the planet. Pound-for-pound, it's QUITE a thumper.

The gun has a factory muzzle break on it so the kick should be ok.
guy I bought it from says it's like shooting a 270... but real loud.
I love those accubonds, they shoot good in all my other rifles, so thought I'D try those first in 200 gr. with IMR-7828 or R22 to start with, nosler book #6 says I can get right at 3200 fps..
now if I can get my hands on some of those good federal primers I'll be ready to start testing.

I have been shooting the 338 ultra for years and their is no question it is a elk killing machine 0-1200 yds and a little time game over 250 gr bullets , 50 bmg powder, cci primers.
