I had that tag this past season. But for this year they have increased the season by 4 months and the unit almost 10-fold. So could be a much different hunt than I experienced.
With that said, it was a successful hunt. Got my bull down in Nutter's Hole. The bison were swimming to the west side of the Green River prior to the hunt beginning in December. Word was they had to chase them back across the river with a helicopter. But during the hunt they continued to cross to the west side across the ice. In any case, I guess the hunters can now chase them back across the river, as they have opened up vast amount of area on that west side.
This past winter, very few bison made it up onto the Wild Horse Bench area just north of Nutter's Hole. Rather they found refuge either on indian land or in The Hole. Access into the Hole is tough, but it is possible, as that is where I shot mine. Took horses to get it out, though, ATVs access via Wrinkles Road is ridiculous, so don't count on it.
I'd not bother with anything east of the Green River until late December into January. Focus on the west side before then as the bison seek feed across the river. Or wait until later in the season as they migrate north from indian land.
