overnight trip ideas memorial wknd

hi guys i know this is a hunting board but thought this would be a great place to look for ideas for this upcoming memorial wknd ....looking for a nice little road trip with the family ...was thinking of going to ruidoso or chama for a night!...Anybody have any suggestions on what to do or where to go !....maybe a train ride or even a quick fishing trip???

Maybe somewhere in the gila. Bear Canyon Lake? Great place to camp and might give you a chance to get into your archery unit..

If taking a camping trailer or tent, there is a place near El Vado State Park, called Cooper's El Vado Ranch. It has primitive camping right next to the Rio Chama for some fishing.

You are also close enough for a train ride in Chama.

the gila would be a nice getaway.....never been to bear canyon lake, that may be an option though as i may want to get some fishing in as well .....

is there any place to stay close by....hotel/cabin? dont really wanna take the trailer out this wknd was thinking of just getting a room somewhere

it is just outside Mimbres. there might be a place there. not sure
