LAST EDITED ON Sep-01-17 AT 02:09PM (MST)[p]Hi guys
Well when my son called and excitedly told me he had drawn his UT elk tag I about fell over. Because he had only been putting in for a couple years so I had him putting in for some of the best units possible.
Well after he sent me his info I saw that he had messed up and applied for the Paunsaugunt for not only deer but elk as well.
I never even knew there were elk on it but after looking into things some I couldn't believe how many points some were burning on that tag so I figured it must have some good bulls. So I told him we should do it, he's young in his 20s and in good health so why not.
Living 1500 miles away makes it tough to really do any preseason scouting so we are just going to get there a few days early and see what we can come up with.
One thing that concerns me now thou is I just looked into the management plan and was shocked to see that they manage the unit for just 175 elk. Plans are made, I'm just not going to tell my son that tid bit of information.
I've did allot of research and have some ideas about where I think we are going to start. But if any of you have knowledge of the area and feel like sharing any of it we'd greatly appreciate it. You can just message me. Its his first elk hunt so he's pretty excited and so am I for him.
Good luck to you all with tags in your pacs this fall!
And If you need any info about elk hunting in WY or Deer hunting in Canada I might be able to help you if its in areas I'm familiar with.
Thanks!
