You guys are going to hate me for this but it's my first bow kill. I missed a "big" one about a month ago and I'm glad I did. I was checking our irrigation wells the morning I saw him. He was about 1/2 mile away when he saw me and he was gone. I watched him run out of sight. Needless to say I took to rest of the day off work to look for him. I really had no idea where he went to so I just started walking and glassing. Within about 20 minutes I already had him spotted within 200 yards with pretty good cover the entire way. I started crawling up on him just knowing he was going to bust me. But I kept inching closer and closer. I was within 40 yards. I have a Primos can call which I used from there. I'm not sure if it was that or if he got a sniff of my scent. He jumped up and ran about 10 yards closer. He stood and looked at me straight on as I drew back. He turned broadside and I let one fly. He ran, stopped, and ran back to the same spot where I just hit him. By that time I had already nocked another arrow and I let the next one fly. He then took 2 steps and he was down. I was hunting by myself so I don't have any pics of me with him, just my bow.
Thanks for everyone?s replies
