I'm pretty sure the elk I shot with a bow at 10 feet, died a more deader death than the deer I shot at 600.

This issue cannot be resolved because there are different interpretations of what is ethical. If you think shooting an animal at 1000 yards is ethical than your ethics are different than those that disagree with you - doesn't mean you are wrong just different - probably at some point in the future someone in a position of power will define ethical for us - shame we can't agree among ourselves -
