The Red Wings have been eliminated.I am an ardent Wings fan, but must admit they have not performed to the fullest. Maybe they need to get new young talent with more energy. Dunno, but Nashville whipped em pretty good. I will now throw my support to Nashville until they play L.A. After Nashville beats L.A. , St. Louis will then play the Rangers for the Cup. One of the strangest playoffs I can remember. Now that the Wings will no longer be threatened by the Sharks, I hope San Jose beats the snot outta Vancouver. Thornton is kind of a thug too, but he has not been given credit for his years in the game. Damn good player but just not good enough to surpass Lidstrom in any records. The Sedin twins are awesome when they both play, but I can't stand that wining little beetch Louongo.
And the Penguins, I have always liked the way Malkin has been a top end player but Sid is a wining litle beetch like Louongo. So to hell with the Penguins and bring it on Philly. Hartnell is a thug but I like him more than Sid and Jamir Jagir is still one of the smartest players to skate the ice. But , Lidstrom is the smartest defenseman to play, hope he gives it another year just to beat a bunch more records. All hail to the mighty Gretzky but the RED WINGS STILL ARE THE WINNINGEST TEAM IN RECENT HOCKEY HISTORY!!!

Lord Stanley would be amazed at what has become of a winter sport to pass the time until spring arrives.

The Redwings were hit hard with major injuries and it showed against the Preds. Rinne was outstanding in the series but I feel that a healthy Redwings team would have made a huge difference. The Redwings still have the nucleus of a winning team for years to come.

Like I said, I am a diehard Wings fan but..... Yes , the Wings did take a lot of injuries in the beginning of the season but really when it was time to start the playoffs, they had everybody back. Helm took the skate to his wrist in his first game back and was sent to surgery. The rest of the team that remained played hard but just couldn't do it.
The few who retired from last year were some dang good players, Draper, Rafalski, Osgood, even Modano, who only played his last season in his home town, and very few games at that. Same injury as Helm for Modano.
The Wings have a very good core group of players but their energy level has to be increased.
St. Louis put the Sharks away tonight, now Phoenix needs to do away with Chicago and L.A. needs 1 more win against the Canucks.

Luongo may not be with the team next year. I will not be surprised if he's dealt in the off season. He seems to have worn out his welcome in Vancouver.

I like my boots.. Haha

Red Wings in High Scool , yup , got em then and never accepted that opportuinity again...
Carhart boots are every bit as good as red wings and you don't have to pay the red wings price.. Love my carharts
Louongo has folded every time Lord Stanley has announced his possible year long residence in Vancouver. Don't know how long his contract is or if it's up. Me thinks it should be thrown in the nearest incinerator. Schneider can hold that team together next year, he should have been their lead goaly ever since Louongo signed with em.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-12 AT 05:13PM (MST)[p]Red Wings suck. They lost because they are soft. When another team starts to bully them around they have no one to step up and start knocking heads. How can you compare Thornton to Lindstrom? Thornton's a Center, Lindstrom's a defense men. Thornton's a thug? He's just not a little beotch like all the Red Wing players are.

Traded to San Jose by Boston for Brad Stuart, Marco Sturm and Wayne Primeau, November 30, 2005.

You are right, How can you compare a thug to a future hall of famer? Boston traded Thornton to San Jose for 3 guys and have been to the playoffs and won the cup since his trade, how many times, as opposed to San Jose'?
Lidstrom has 5 years on Thornton. Give Thornton 5 more years and he still can't come close to Lidstrom's acheivements.

Let's compare how many Stanley Cups Lidstrom helped win to how many Thornton has failed to achieve. Yup , NO COMPARRISON!}>

At least the Avs had a good year and Detroit made the playoffs. The same can't be said of my Habs who finished dead last in the Eastern Conference. That's sucking big time.

Which captain will stick up for their goalie if someone makes a run at him? Which captain will stick up for their best player when someone pounds his head into the glass? There's more to being a captain then stats and Lady Bing trophys.

OK shotgun1, Neither Thornton nor Lidstrom have won the Lady Bing(Datsyuk has,any of the Sharks??NO), but you are simply arguing on the wrong side. I went back to my original post and copy/pasted this about thug Thornton. I actually gave him somewhat of a compliment,OOOOPS.

Thornton is kind of a thug too, but he has not been given credit for his years in the game. Damn good player but just not good enough to surpass Lidstrom in any records.

Phoenix eliminated Chicago and the Rangers forced game 7. Hope Torts can keep New York motivated.

The Habs played well at the beggining of the year and surprised me when their numbers started going down. The Habs, I think have won more Stanley's than any other team in NHL history.

The Habs have won 24 Stanley Cups in their storied history. #25 is years away but I'm hoping that with the 3rd overall draft pick this year and shrewd FA signings, that the team will quickly return to playoff prominence.

Luongo may indeed be gone next year, the very least, will probably be second. Roberto Luongo is willing to waive his no-trade clause.

Whether the Canucks ask the veteran goaltender to, or whether they are able to deal the decade that remains on his 12-year, $64-million contract to a place he finds acceptable, remains to be seen. But as the Canucks try to solve the dilemma of having two No. 1 goalies after this season's emergence of Cory Schneider, the guy who wears No. 1 said he won't stand in their way.

"Yeah, of course, if they ask me to," Luongo said of waiving his no-trade while the team cleaned out the locker room two days after a surprising first-round playoff exit. "I don't want to be one of those guys that's going to stand in the way of anything. I always want to put the team ahead of me first. I don't want to be one of those selfish guys

LOL

St, Louis is out.

Who do you see representing the West in the finals now?

I did not see the Coyotes mentioned in your first post, and they have an excellent chance to face LA in the conf. final.

Go Coyotes!

Kings-Yotes in the Western Conference Finals, Flyers-Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Kings-Rangers Stanley Cup Finals with the Kings winning the Stanley Cup.

Eldorado

I did not do well on my aspirations. Not giving any credit at all to Phoenix in my first post, I now eat crow. Taste like chicken.....
Predators are done, Phoenix will play L.A. but not sure who will go from there. Hope L.A. beats Phoenix just cause #22 Lewis is the brother of my boys first coach and it would be awesome to see Lord Stanley's Cup in the Kearns Olympic Oval when Trevor brings it back to Utah.
St. Louis has been a disapointment throughout the playoffs, I fully expected them in the conference finals.
I'm thinking the Flyers will not go beyond this round with the Devils, they have a problem with the netminders. The first round with Pittsburgh, every game scored too high for the Flyers and frankly , I am surprised that they have made it this far. Still one more period to go , let's see what happens.
Rangers and Caps, hmmm, I would like to see the Rangers win but the Capitals have been giving them hell. East conference finals will be the Devils against whoever wins between New York and D.C.
My best for the Cup is L.A and ..........

Let's Go L.A.

I'm beginning to wonder about the Flyers. They don't seem to have an answer for the pesky Devils.

Eldorado

The Flyers now have a foot on their throat. They will need a small miracle to beat the Devils.

I don't really care who wins the east.

The Coyotes need to continue to play to win. They have played a style in some games where it looked like they were playing not to lose.

Not sure if that makes any sense, but they would get a lead then take their foot off the gas. The other team would grab the momentum and beat them.

They can beat LA, but they need to concentrate on finishing off Nashville first.

GO COYOTES!!

Kings-Yotes series could be awesome. Both have stellar goaltending, excellent front lines, and terrific special teams play. Traveling distance between both cities is relatively short so there should be minimal player fatigue. Could be a kick ass series.

Eldorado

I don't see the Coyote's winning the Kings but it will be a very good series! Coyote's could come out on top, but it will be a very rough ride to do so.
GOOOOO KIIINNGs

Coyotes defense was just too much for the Predators. Good game tonight, can't wait for the western conference finals. Smith and Quick will be the ones to win for their teams!
Rangers almost fell behind. Next game in D.C. Rangers better man up or the Russians will be playing the Devils!!

LET'S GOOOO KIIINGSS

Well the Coyote-King matchup is set.

Everybody buckle up!

No offense buttshot, but your prognostications have been bad.
I hope that trend continues. :)

GOOO COYOTES!

Good on ya Jabali, L.A. will still beat Phoenix, looks like the Flyers are done. You can see it in their eyes!! They have lost the drive to win. 3-1 in the third.
The only guess work left is the Rangers and the Caps??
Lord Stanley will be won by either L.A. or the Rangers.

LAST EDITED ON May-08-12 AT 08:34PM (MST)[p]Devils tenacious forecheck simply wore down the free wheeling Flyers. Who ever wins the Caps-Rangers series will have a hand full playing against the Devils.

Eldorado

L.A. scored first and pissed off Smith. Coyote's scored to even it up and L.A. scored again. I like the way Brown gets under Phoenix's skin.

LET'S GO KIIIINNGGSSS

Well the Kings came out with their foot on the floor, and never let up.

The Coyotes have lost home ice, and now have an uphill fight.

They can beat these guys but they need to match their intensity.

GOOOO COYOTES !!!!!!

What an impressive performance tonight by the Kings. They seem to have momentum and destiny on their side.

Eldorado

Yote's imploded. L.A. pummelled Phoenix bad tonight. L.A. started these playoffs in the #8 position.
L.A. beats #1 Vancouver, then whips #2 St. Louis, and is well on the way to spanking #3 Phoenix to make the Championships. Wonder how many times that has happened in NHL history?
If the Rangers don't make the Championships, I see nothing stopping the Kings.
GOOO KIIIINGGSS

Leaving Sunday morning for a week in Mesa Verde. Taking the sattelite receiver and will be watching the games while we are gone, I hope.

GOOO KIIIINGGSS

Wow, I thought the '07 Ducks put a beat down on the rest of the NHL that playoff year and was never going to be repeated again but the Kings have taken it to a whole new level. Total domination.

12-0 in games 1-3.
Held a 3-0 lead in every series.
10-0 on the road in the playoffs.
15-2 overall playoff record.
Killed off 64 of 68 penalties.

Kings are badas##!
Present the Cup tonight.
Gotta do yard work, can't wait....
Gretzky is in the house!!

Kings looked tight tonight blowing easy chances to end the series. Now the Devils have life thanks to their dogged play. This could get interesting but I still say Kings in 6.

And the plot thickens. Kings in a scoring slump with the brakes now going against them. I still have the Kings in 6. Nothing like home cooking.

Eldorado

I'm with ya on the Kings winning but me thinks in 7. All cup games have been won by the visiting team at the home teams ice sheet.
Kinda makes me nervous for Monday's game. Parise has got Brown behind the 8 ball.

Parise and crew just could not come back from Bernier's flubup.
L.A. is for sure the KING this year!!!
Right on , TREVOR , 2 goals tonight and waiting for the hattrick . Sorry it did not come to fruition....Bring Lord Stanley's Cup to SLC!!
