LAST EDITED ON Jan-07-15 AT 09:43PM (MST)[p]Ok so here's the story behind this buck. My brother is kicking himself in the butt right now because he had been hunting since the 1st. He hadn't really been seeing much because of the snow that had worked its way to our unit. I get to hunting on the evening of the 2nd. We hunt all day Saturday and Chase a few littler bucks and a really nice couse, but just couldn't get in range. The bucks are just not in the full rut, well as of the 4th. So on Sunday my brother hunts the morning and ends up leaving back to Albuquerque around 10:30 to catch the Dallas game. Myself and my dad decide to get breakfast in town. It's now around 11:15 and we decide to go hunting since we haven't seen no movement till it warmed up around mid day. We then end up deciding to park at this spot and walk to a point and start to glass. We start glassing these bluffs and low and behold my dad's dog starts to bark. It's not a normal bark either, it's more of a kinda yelp! My dad's dog is a Chihuahua named "juero". I look at juero and tell him ssshhhhh!!! He then does it again but I notice his attention is looking down and to the left. As I'm looking, a little forkey pounces down the ridge along with.......... This stud buck and a doe standing below us. They were bedded down the whole time under our noses! Ok so at this point they are only 40yds below us and my dad is whispering " stick him stick him, JUERO BE QUIET " the doe never moves so the buck stays there for my arrow to meet him with a double lunger!!! We watch him all the way to the bottom of the bluff as he falls over!!! My adrenaline is so overwhelming that I'm shaking, even my dad was shaking! All in all this was the best hunting trip to date! Now the fun begins because my dad has bad knees and ankles so I had to quarter the Deer up and pack him out from the bottom which was about 150yds strait up with snow!!! It took me about 4 hours but was way worth it!!!! Till next year!!!!

Great looking Deer, Congrats!

Did you save the cape? Kind of looks like cape is missing.

Thanks, no I didn't save the cape but the person that is mounting it has a nice one!

No doubt!!! Ya after that he was our hunting dog for sure, he got a few snacks.... Lol!

Im not a real fan of those white-tail framed three points, but when I saw this pic the first word out of my mouth was f###!!

Sweet trophy man. Congratulations.

How wide is he?

Crazeymaez the genetics are still around but just a pain to find! Hopefully this guy had his fair share of genetics put out in the area!!!!

That is a sick 3 point on one side. Looks like an Old Mexico buck almost.
Gas prices suck there.

NMPaul ya it really does look like an old Mexico buck! Kinda has that mixture of whitetail, but you really don't see these guys around anymore so I'm very blessed to have harvested him! Back in my great Grandpa Ramon Trujillo's days are even these guys were roaming around! And ya gas prices do suck there.... Lol!

I did have a camera, but in all the excitement I didn't grab it when I went to quarter out the Deer to pack out!? Sure wish I did though!

Nicely done! I've been in 15 a lot over the years and that is the biggest buck I've seen. The last one fell victim to a lion.

Earlyriser I've to have been hunting in 15, and 16 all my life because I grew up in cruiseville. My great Grandma and grandpa Ramon Trujillo lived across from the r.v. Park. He used to kill some monsters but they don't get that big anymore. He used to tell us, "show me a Deer, and I'll show you a dead Deer".
