Monday, a good friend of mine killed a lion with his bow, however, since I know nothing about scoring them, or what would be a good score, the guide that helped him out scored it at 14 3/4 and the game and fish put him at 10 yrs. old. Now is this a good size tom or just average? Thanks for the help.

From what I have seen over the years anything between 14 1/2 to 15 1/4 is better than average. It will shrink some however during the 90 day drying period.

Cats are measured by the width and length of the upper portion of the skull.(lower jaw not part of the measurement)

Average cats aroung here (Central Utah) usually measure around 13 1/2 to 14 1/4. Tell you buddy congrats on a nice cat.

Here's the best way to score a lion.

Get him up a tree and score it like this.

Deer 1
Lion 0

:) :)
