Scoutimg trip today.

Went up near Cloudcroft today. Wow are the bulls screaming their heads off. Seemed like every ridge I went on I found another bull. Didn't have my camera...was tired when I left, but I got within 45 yards of a very large 6x5. maybe a 320-330 bull. Closest encounter I have had since I am new to elk. What an experience that was.

Congrats on the close encounter. My cousin killed a very nice 5x5 on the first hunt and the bulls were screaming all day that day. Cousin is headed back up this weekend to help a friend and his son out. Hopefully my buddies son can't get his first archery animal.
