One of my guides, Cody Jalbert and his father beat some incredible odds and drew a pair of the 25 archery tags for the world famous Arizona Strip, Unit 13B.
Cody has never been up there, and since he is part of the AWO team, I offered to go up there for a couple of weekends of scouting and to show him around.
Now neither Cody nor his dad is what you would call "BIG TIME" trophy mule deer hunters.
They are kind of guys that score doesn't much matter to them, its the hunt and pursuit they enjoy, so I know they wouldn't say 200 inches or come home empty.
Anyway, we had a great two weekends up there; saw lots of good deer, turkeys, chukars, Gambel's quail and even a few coyotes.
Deer herd seems to be doing well, and lots of velvet covered bucks of all shapes and sizes seen.
I'm a real "Freak and Geed" guys so when we spotted a pair of real unusual bucks, those were the ones I really liked.
Here are a just a few photos I'll share with you of what we looked at.
For some, there won't be a shooter in them, but for others, I'll bet you wished you had the tag that Cody and his dad have this year.
We all have different likes and different standards when it comes to the animals we pursue.
Kinda like ice cream, different flavors for different people.
Enjoy these pictures of some bucks from the most "magical" country in northern Arizona!
I think you can tell what my favorite was.
Hope you enjoyed the show!
