IMPORTANT FEDERAL GUN BILL NEEDS OUR SUPPORT

Here?s an excerpt from an alert we recently received from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) regarding a federal bill, S. 3525, titled the Sportsmen?s Act. of 2012. This bill is actually a combination of bills relating to hunting and fishing. Some of these bills have no direct connection with gun rights, but at least one of them is extremely important to protecting the Second Amendment. The important part is a bill numbered S. 838, which has been folded into S. 3525 (the Sportsmen?s Act).

The anti-hunting crowd is currently using the court system in an attempt to force the EPA to ban lead bullets for use by civilians. This would, of course, hugely impact your ability to shoot, regardless of whether or not you're a hunter. Furthermore, given that state laws require the use of expanding ammunition for the hunting of medium and large game animals, and given that partially-jacketed lead-core bullets are by far the best-suited bullets for this purpose, the hunting of deer, elk, pigs, etc. could pretty much come to a screeching halt. And a ban on lead bullets would dramatically drive up the cost of ammunition while reducing its ballistic performance. S. 838, which is now part of the Sportsman?s Act, would prohibit the EPA from banning lead bullets. Therefore, the Sportsmen?s Act needs to pass. Please go to the Action Item below to see what you can do.
