So... let's talk about the stimulus package and what it will do to help you. I own 3 businesses myself and I won't be getting a check but that's okay because I don't want one. My restaurant employs 6 people and 4 of them have been temporarily laid off while we keep the drive thru open to feed people. The 4 that were laid off were only part time anyway but were also given two weeks paid and the stimulus money will get them through.
My electrical contracting business employs 12 people full time and absolutely nobody has been laid off because unfortunately construction is apparently essential. I would love to have been shut down for a solid month but that isn't going to happen. My employees would hurt a little but honestly it's hard for me to feel sorry for people that refuse to save money.
This entire saga has shown just how fragile we are as a society. Well, I'm not fragile but we've been shown just how many are. Like, really we couldn't survive as a country if we didn't spend 6 trillion dollars? Are you and your wife really $2,400.00 away from losing everything or are you too proud to tighten the belt and maybe eat Top Ramen for a minute until things get back to normal?
Maybe you just started a business and have a lease on a building and now you're business is shut down or doing half the sales like my restaurant. What I did was make sure that I had enough startup money in the bank to cover at least a month of no income before I even opened up. I could literally not even open the doors for 3 months and still be fine. Why? Because I planned ahead and didn't start a business with no emergency money but apparently people need the taxpayers to give them money to stay in business during tough times. Why do we have this mentality that there always has to be a safety net? If you started a business and literally can't close it for a month because if you do it will fail, you have already failed.
It simply amazes me that I cannot find a roll of toilet paper on a shelf at a store anywhere but my tax dollars have to go to help people pay their rent. This stimulus bill is nothing more that politicians pandering during an election year. Trump is going to tell you that he saved your life because without the money you would have starved. Your congress critters will do the same all jockeying to get re-elected but the funny thing is that I don't remember anyone asking me if I needed any money.
