Traditions Muzzleloader DONT BUY!

So this has been a issue for awhile now. I took my Traditions 209 inline out before the muzzleloader this year to do some shooting and make sure it was still on paper. I have three muzzleloaders but this one is my fav because it is accurate as heck. So I take this thing home to do some clean up for the hunt. I inspect the breach plug and its got a crack running towards the threads and does not look safe at all. I call up Traditions and tell them and the rude individual on the phone for their customer service states "a crack sounds like normal wear and tear", he then states I need your serial number to verify this. I then call him back and he states "the serial number states this gun was built over 6 years ago there is nothing we can do" he then hung up. I would have bough a new breach plug but the man at this point hung up on me and gave me no other option but to call back in. I called back in and talked with someone else finally, she stated she would send me out a new breach plug as this is not a wear and tear issue, and that stripping the breach plug is but a crack is not. I got to thinking finally there going to make this right, well in the end I have yet to get the part that I requested back in August. Well I call them last week and get the same guy on the phone he states "this is a wear and tear item, and I stopped the part from going out". My issue is at no time did this man look at a photo of the crack, and at no time would he accept a copy of my sales receipt dated from three years ago when I mail ordered this thing from dixie gun works. Also that warranty card I filed with them, you guessed it never placed on file. So needless to say I have purchased a new breach plug at my own costs $10 (bet it cost them 4 to make), and I will never by a Tradition's Muzzleloader again. Thank Jebus that I have a Tompson Center Hawkin. This muzzleloader will stay but I will never buy another one from this company, and I would urge everyone else to stay away from them. I can see it now he only shot 30 shots out of the thing but thats wear and tear (I had not shot it much it was on one hunt and two sight in sessions before the crack). PM me if you would like photos to back this up.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-13 AT 04:18PM (MST)[p]Even though it was only a $10 part, why not go up the ladder if you were dealing with a customer service person like that who sounds more like he should have been sweeping the floors. One lousy person doesn't mean that the product and rest of the organization is bad. My wife had a problem with her VW years ago and kept telling the service guy at the dealer that it was losing power going up hills like it wasn't getting enough fuel and that she kept hearing a noise in the rearend of the car. The guy kept telling her there was no problem until the thing finally quit and she had it repaired at another licensed service place. It turned out the internal fuel pump in the gas tank was going out and when it finally failed the repairs included having to clean out the fuel tank and all the injectors, etc. and it ended up costing close to $500. We got a runaround from VW that we should have brought it to them, yadayadayada. We kept pressing the matter all the way to finally writing a letter to the President of VW and ended up getting a reimbursement check for the entire amount.

Wow - sounds like you are getting a load of crap. I have a Tradtions Pursuit - I inherited it from my old man when he passed, it had never been fired. I am not sure where the warranty registration card is, or if he sent it in. My mom doesn't remember. I hope I don't have a similar issue.

Can you post a pic of the breech plug so I know what to look for?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-09-13 AT 11:32AM (MST)[p]Don't get me started on the plumber crack jokes! We are all too familiar with them! From what I know, Bess won't be too happy with me if I told a few either!
Just hackin' on ya man!

You'd think for a lousy $10 part they'd send you one and keep a bunch of customers. Guess not! Thanks for the post.

I had asked for the supervisor and I have written the company by snail mail and email. I figured with the nice lady who was covering customer service that the part was on its way until the last call. I haven't made any further attempts to resolve this with them because I for one purchased the part, and for two I haven't had much time with school and work. I plan on calling them once more after finals week to see if they can fix this. In the mean time I wanted to let everyone know the issues, mainly so they are checking these breach plugs for cracks so we don't have a plug in someones face.

After calling Traditions last week and telling them about this forum and my post on here, I got a replacement breach plug. This is very nice as now I have a spare. My whole issue was the customer service, I was at first willing to just pay for the darn thing. I figured everyone needed a update on this, as they came threw eventually. I would definitely overhaul the customer service if I was the CEO FYI.
