Hello all,
My name is Aaron and I'm a newcomer to Colorado hunting. I was able to buy a landowner voucher for Unit 49/57/58/581 2nd Rifle Deer. I just moved to Leadville in May after spending my entire life hunting southern New Mexico.
The deer hunting up here is entirely new to me since I never ever had to deal with snow or weather affecting the movement of deer.
I'm not looking for spots or anything in the above mentioned units, I'm just wondering what type of terrain and vegetation that I should focus my hunting on during mid-late October.
I live in Leadville so the most obvious choice to begin my scouting is in 49. I'm not even sure the deer will still be up here during that time. Any info is greatly appreciated and I'm more than happy to offer New Mexico hunting advice. I've hunted just about every unit in SW New Mexico including mule deer, Coues deer, oryx, javelina, antelope, elk, etc.
