LAST EDITED ON Sep-23-19 AT 07:13PM (MST)[p]Just returned from Colorado and had some success on my last day I could hunt. Overall it was a tough hunt with the later muzzle dates this year and full moon glaring down every night. But I was able to scratch up a mature buck and see some awesome country. Would like to thank folks that chimed in on here and helped me with some starting points and advice.

I do. I tried loading them but couldnt get them to go. Ill send you some. He has a huge back end but crabbed out on the fronts. I thought be was a big three when I glassed him from a distance

>Great deer, Wears me out just
>looking at that slope you're
>sitting on.

Ya it was a brutal hike up to him at 12,200 ft and even worse coming down with 3 quarters and gear. Glad my wife was there to help with the rest. Swollen knee the next day.

Cody,
Nice buck you killed in gmu 66 Congratulations

In the future help others if you can with that unit and remember that you also received help from others on this site with your hunt and again Congratulations

Thank you. It was a fun stalk. I got to 15 yards of the trees he was bedded in before he had enough of me goofing around. Had to make a quick 50 yard shot but the 300 gr Thor piled him up.

Nice! Mile high rack on that guy. I love 66. My daughter will be on the gun this fall. She drew a second season tag. We're pretty stoked to get out there again. Good job buddy.

Awesome picture... looks like you did very well on that hunt. Congratulations

Did you see a lot of other bucks on that hunt?

>Nice job, I love that phase
>of cape.

Thank you and good luck. We saw a couple crankers but they were in the headlights while driving in to set up camp

Saw about fourteen over the six days but we lost a day to low clouds and rain. I was expecting to see more but the full moon probably wasnt helping.

From where I started quartering him to where I ended I was about 20 feet lower in elevation. Plenty steep

Great buck!

I saw your post on 2019 big bucks....you mentioned a thanks to all who reached out.

Dude, I had a 32" buck I never could get to cross over to my unit. He was in 66. I wish I had seen you asking for help. Totally would have dumped that info to ya.

I saw your post on deer in 66. I'm thinking about a try for 66 3 rd in '20. Never hunted there or 67 either. Only have 11 points but it still could hit maybe for a tag there. What is your opinion of 66 or 67 next year for big deer ? Only this 1 chance to draw so Im trying to do good research well in advance. Any advice would be appreciated !
Thanks so much,!

Hi Jerry, Ill shoot you a DM or give you a call in a few days. Im no expert and the way my mule deer luck has gone the last couple years Im scared to give anyone any ideas. But Ill let you know what I seen in 66. Ive never hunted 67 but I was going to put my father in law in there next year to try it. I hunted 68/681 which is on the other side of 67 and can let you what I seen there. I love the pre planning your doing. Ive already been scratching my head thinking about my wifes points for CO next year.

That’s a sweet buck. Love that county and the height on that buck to match it.
Im hoping to hunt 66 for the first time this fall in 2020!
