Hey guys,
Just wanted to try and get some feedback on how LE Archery in Utah was the past couple years. I have 12 NR points and am starting to get close to where I could draw a Archery tag in some good to great units. However, is the archery season a bit early? Should I wait another few years for (any weapon)?

I assume your talking about elk since you asked about the hunt being to early? I hunted archery last year. I was always in elk but if your wanting that bulls bugling every day hunt then yes archery is to early. There were days toward the end where the bulls were vocal in the morning and some evenings. I love archery and had a great experience, but yes it was pre rut for the most part. Good luck

I drew the Manti tag last year and took a decent bull the Monday of the last week....everything finally worked out and he came right into our calls. They were hit and miss the week before but there was still quite a bit of bugling. After I took my bull I helped out a buddy the rest of the week and they were definitely starting to heat up and he arrowed one the last day. Would be great if Utah extended the archery season by another week....anyway, we ran into a couple that were 360ish and a monster pushing 400 that last week.

Manti doesn't have the biggest bulls (by average) but there are lots of elk so it depends on what you are looking for. I'm happy to share some info if you end up choosing Manti.

Rut timing is sometimes a crap shoot, but you can usually get some rutting action the last week or so of the archery hunt. I have experienced them going crazy on labor day weekend some years, so, some days they fire up and others they don't. But this year rifle hunters even had many quiet days, so go figure.

Depends on the unit...Most units are different during the rut. I mostly hunt and spend time on the Monroe, Wasatch, and Manti. The Monroe unit is GREAT for archery rut action. I've never seen a real slow year. If you are expecting them to come running on every call you blow it's not gonna happen but they are always making noise up there. Wasatch and Manti IMHO are a little more hit and miss for rutting action.
Give us more info on the unit(s) you are looking at.

Traditional >>>------->

Utah archery season is early. The last couple of years have been hit and miss, even on the any weapon hunts that I've been on. If you want to hunt the peak of the rut, go with the any weapon choice and pray for cold weather.
