I am looking for a new deer heart recipe would anyone be willing to share a good one with me? Thank You

I just slice it thin, dredge it in flour and quick fry in butter.
Nothing better.

I've also sliced it up, boil it and then pickle it like pickled eggs.

Crock Pot Deer Heart Stew

Clean heart and remove all the fat & veins you can, soak the heart in very salty water for at least 2 hours (even over night)Rinse very thoroughly.

Deer heart
2 Carrots sliced
2 stalks celery sliced (to boil with heart)

Boil whole heart for 15 minutes with quartered carrots and celery. Remove and dice heart, discarding carrots and celery.

1 12oz can favorite beer
2 12oz cans V-8 juice
1 small can green peas
4-5 strips of bacon sliced
1 can kernal corn
2 carrots, sliced
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 can sliced mushrooms
1 medium onion, chopped
3-4 diced potatoes
Salt & pepper to taste

In a crockpot add all ingredients above and heart pieces. Cook on high 3-4 hours.

If you are still at camp it's a good dutch oven meal the day after you shot your deer and you've been out helping the buddies get their deer.

Stuffed Heart by Tara

Soak heart in salt water for at least two hours and rinse well.

Please make sure you dont use baler twine treated with linseed oil in error of cooking twine. I did that once and ruined the whole meal.

1 venison heart or beef heart
salt and pepper
4 slices bacon
2 cups soft breadcrumbs
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4-1/2 teaspoon sage (until you smell it)
1 cup beef broth
1 bay leaf

1. Wash heart and trim fat, sprinkle inside with salt and pepper.
2. Fry bacon until almost crispy, add bread crumbs, celery, onion, egg, 1/2 tsp salt, thyms, sage and 1/2 tsp pepper.
3. Stuff heart and tie with cooking string or secure with skewers.
4. Place in small roasting pan, cover with broth and add bay leaf.
5. Cover and bake at 325 for 2 1/2 hours.
6. Can be done in a crock pot for 9 hours on low.

Leave it on the mountain with the rest of the gut pile. Heart is just not my thing. Just thought I would give you a hard time.

I also like to slice it, only I like the slices 1/2 or so. Dredge it in bread crumbs, season with Lowry's and fry 'em in butter and yellow onions.

MT, send me the GPS coords of your gut pile, cuz I love heart!

Hi All!

Done it both ways, stuffed and fried. I like to fry up some bacon and onions. Slice the heart 1/4" thick, dredge in spiced flour(cajun spice works good)fry up in bacon drippings. This and a couple Canadian beer and you have one great meal!

All most as good as liver, onions & a couple of Canadian beer!

Stuffed, use your favorite chicken or turkey stuffing recipe. Stuff the heart, tie off and cook in 350 degree oven for a couple hours, slice, serve and enjoy.

See Ya

My Grandma used to boil the heart, grind it up add mayo, some pickles and eat it as a sandwich like tunafish. Its good.

Step 1, remove from deer(once its dead).
Step 2, Toss onto the ground near the other guts
Step 3, walk off, you've got a whole deer to eat, why bother with a nasty chunk of heart, coyotes need to eat something
