Personally, I think our system works just fine. Hunters with few points still have a shot, but the squaring of the points give guys with many points the best odds. I echo Crabcreekhunter's comments. If you want to hold out for Desert A, Pearrygin, etc., it's likely gonna take a long long time, if ever, regardless of how many points you have. Simple supply and demand. If someone doesn't bother to check the odds and whines about not drawing year after year...well, that's what you get for not doing your homework. For those of you who have a ton of points but don't draw, I'd be interested to hear what hunts you're applying for...my guess is you're not applying for the Palouse whitetail tag.
