Dow - can speak to business owners and education. Knows the hot button items and which ones to push. Can call out MLG on all things legislative and executive.

Ronchetti - not a politician, RINO in nature. Everyone knows him cause he's that weather guy. Shamefully lost against little benny-ray.

Block and Zenetti - I'm afraid that most fence-setter people will only see them as successful white guys. That label has been gaslighted to no end.

This runoff between (R)'s and (d)'s needs to be on like ground, in this case, a "cat-fight". It's a shame that the wellbeing of a state has come down to either skin tone or gender politics...

I will vote for what ever republican gets the nod. But sad truth is Alb and Santa Fe are full of people who don't think like us and believe MLG has done good (WTF???) Plus in NM anyone who resembles the rich white guy mold doesn't have a chance. We need a strong Hispanic republican only way i think Republicans get in office. I don't see any of the current republican candidates as appealing to most of NM voters
 
I think Mark has a lot of balancing to do in order to win it all.

In the Primary, he should do well amongst moderate conservatives, but he must also somehow get enough votes from the extreme right/fringe folks who believe the 2020 election was stolen. This will be tricky....

If he gets to the General, he must convince enough moderate Dems and independents that he is not a "Trumpist" (The orange one & never Trumper adds will actually benefit him in this case)... You cannot ignore his popularity from being a "weather man" all these years and his likeable personality. These 2 factors should bring him many votes as well.

Some good dialog on this topic so far along with some interesting opinions... I believe what Mark has going for him is his charismatic personality and that he appears to be more of a "Moderate Republican". If he can push the Moderate image across (especially in the GE) he will have a solid chance.

Trying to understand and clarify a few things here.....

Are you saying a grass roots republican is extreme/fringe right only?
If so, are you implying that Republicans whom are Not in the category of extreme/fringe right are Not "America First"?

You say "We" don't stand a chance...... Who is We in this case?

Also, how are registered voters supposed to vote during elections if there are no voting machines or mail in ballots? Haven't voting machines and mail in ballots been used for decades in order to cast votes?

Excellent point about needing a strong Hispanic Republican candidate..... Again.... Susana was the last to fit the bill... As long as the Republican party keeps putting up the extreme/fringe type candidates, there will not be another Republican governor in NM in the foreseeable future.

I can see you haven’t really done research on your own or have seen how other states or combating these issues. I’ll use AZ as an example :
They’re going to an all paper ballot system eliminating dominion machines or any machine that can be connected to internet.

Implementation of voter I.D. as well.

No drop boxes.

There’s a huge difference in absentee ballot, to mail in voting . Answer to that question is
GO VOTE AT THE POLLS.

These are just a few things that will eliminate issues in the system.

I’ll answer your first two questions with one answer I’m pressed for time, if you’re a “Liz Cheney” MIT Romney “ Mitch McConnell type republican, as opposed to a “MTG” Matt Gaetz” Jim Jordan” type republican, then that does not categorize you as AMERICA FIRST.

“WE” = Republicans (any type)

Is she trying to help the people of NM a little by trying to offset the rise in fuel prices/inflation? Or, is she buying votes? Looks like most states are providing some sort of gas tax holidays, rebates, etc.. It helps politicians (D & R) look good for sure. Whether their heart is really in it we will never know.

Heck if people don't need the $250, just give it to the church or someone in need..

Dems have driven inflation through the roof, the amount we’re paying at the pump right now is the equivalent to the highest tax hike on the working class in HISTORY!

As a registered Independent I look at Extreme right and left fringe groups as the radical sides of both parties. Examples : MTG (far right) and AOC (far Left). These groups are the conspiracy theory believers and they stir the political "pot" so to speak.

Same here.

Dow can play the "race card" just as effectively as MLG can. I think I heard Dow say in an interview that her grandpa was Cherokee. MLG is Hispanic more by name than anything else.
 
As far as mail in voting goes for NM, it can only happen by absentee ballot and not what they did last year. That's why MLG was so hot when the voting bill didn't get a floor vote during this past legislative session. NM's voting laws don't support mail in ballots as a normal form of voting. It was only done last time because of the "emergency health crisis".

I wouldn't put it past her and her crony henchmen in the legislative and judicial branches to try and implement it again for the same lame reason...

I am in agreement about ensuring voting is legit (ie, I.D.). Since the beginning of time, both parties (R & D) have been guilty of voter fraud (dead people voting, voting multiple time, etc).. In every election there is a small percentage of fraud that takes place. However, I do not buy into the conspiracy theory that the 2020 presidential election being rigged/stolen.

I believe that registered voters should vote in person ideally when possible. For registered voters who are disabled or whom cannot make it to the polls should be able to cast their vote via mail in ballot. Voter suppression shall not be tolerated (ie, lack of precincts in rural areas, excessive wait lines, etc.. ).

If I understand your explanation regarding AMERICA FIRST category of Republicans, the Republican party has sort of been split into 2 - groups (AMERICA FIRST and Other Type R). Would you consider the America First type to be a far right Rep group and the Other group to be a moderate Rep?

I am saying the 2 Major parties (Dem/Rep) have their radical extreme groups (far Left/far Right). These radical groups of each party are always trying to pull the party away from center. Extremist groups like Antifa and Qanon are no no bueno!
Ideally each party should be more centralized/moderate, but unfortunately they have drifted too far.

It's a good thing, though, that biden really doesn't have this kind of authority to allow a foreign group to overturn anything the other two branches of government do or employ.

Basically, this would take away co-authority from the Judicial and Legislative Branches of government, not to mention a complete violation of the states sovereign rights to dual federalism under the Constitution.

Sorry for the confusion, I was using the term vote mail in ballot in a broad sense for Absentee (ie, folks who can’t make it to a voting location in person on election day) .

Thank you for clarifying the difference (Rinos and MAGA Repubs) etc.. It’s unfortunate that moderates no longer exist as you claim. It’s sad seeing what the parties have become and with the poor excuse for candidates they have put forward for President (Trump - Narcissist and Biden - Gramps).. Make No mistake about it, the only reason Biden won is because he is Not Trump… Biden did not have to win over votes by exciting his base or winning over moderates/independents. In fact, he did not excite his base but that does not mean people did not despise Trump enough to vote for Biden. Heck, nobody showed up at his rallies as you can see in the pics you posted, but the majority of voters still plugged their noses and voted for Biden because of their disdain for Trump. Attendance at rallies (fan base) is not always the best indicator of who will win an election. It’s not about who has the most supportive fan base, if this were the case the Cleveland Browns fans would win the Superbowl year after year. Make no mistake about it, Trump has a gift for exciting his followers to show up rain or shine to his events to hear his rhetoric. Meanwhile the Dems are too busy drinking their Latte’s from Starbucks to attend their candidates rallies.

Regarding the 2020 election, I have done plenty of fact checking and research. I did not simply listen to biased FOX, MSNBC, etc rhetoric ….

Attendance at rallies is indicative of voter turnout. That’s a proven fact. There is no doubt voter fraud occurred in many ways. In order to not have a repeat of 2020 we have to fully engage at our local level and put our best foot forward! I voted today and even signed up to be a poll watcher. I can’t fix the machines , but I can’t gripe either if I’m not doing anything I can to help solve the problem!

It’s not about who has the most supportive fan base, if this were the case the Cleveland Browns fans would win the Superbowl year after year. Make no mistake about it, Trump has a gift for exciting his followers to show up rain or shine to his events to hear his rhetoric. Meanwhile the Dems are too busy drinking their Latte’s from Starbucks to attend their candidates rallies.

Regarding the 2020 election, I have done plenty of fact checking and research. I did not simply listen to biased FOX, MSNBC, etc rhetoric ….

When they finally get the Hermits Peak fires contained MLG will have all the liberal dems in NM thinking that she put it out. She has all her campaign ads on now saying that she got all this money from Biden and the Feds….Then you hear throughout the day announcements that if you start a wildfire you will be held financially accountable for it. She never mentions in her ads that the USFS started this monster wildfire and the government is responsible for it and this fire is going to cost the govt a very large amount of money no matter who is Governor or President. She is working her liberal scam and 3/4 of NM can’t see it.

In 2020 I voted for Jo J. (L) and in 2016 I voted for Gary J. (L)...
It is a shame that we cannot have younger more coherent and less narcissistic candidates (Dem/Rep) than the ones we have had the last 2 elections.... then you have the far Right and far Left nuts on top of everything else.... This is all a recipe for disaster. We need a true Independent/Centris 3rd party IMO.

But not being a follower of democrat platform planks, I assume they would want to unionize them and register them to vote. Probably provide a fat stack of social welfare too.

I believe he has a good chance in a head to head against MLG as long as he comes across as a more moderate Rep (Non Radical Right). If he can do this, then he can capture the votes of the Moderate Dems who are tired of the stagnant Lujan political tree. I will be casting my vote for Mark.

Trump has changed his stance on abortion throughout history (1999, 2011, 2016, et.c..).
Nothing out of the ordinary - he is a typical politician who changes his stance to get votes. from the Right.

Yes, Mark is the best weatherman "currently".... Ol' Joe Diaz used to be back in the day but father time gets the best of us...

If people cast a ballot based on popularity alone, then yes, he has a chance.

If it is about real issues and speaking to those issues (both real and fabricated by MLG) he may struggle.

As I mentioned earlier in this post... The Radical Right (ie, MTG, etc) and the Radical Left (ie, AOC, etc) are not good for America. You label me as a liberal just because I do not agree with extremism on Right (even though I don't like extremism of the Left either) - you have a lot of hate built up inside you I guess.
I have not labelled you, but I guess you are considering yourself radical right/MAGA and that's ok because it is a free country. Just don't label everyone who does not agree with you and your views to be a "liberal".
