Turkey season started today in California, and I was able to get my first spring gobbler. Im addicted, watching that tom come into my call was just awesome. I have heard that wild turkey is a little more dry than domesitc, so I was wondering if any of you guys have any special methods of cooking them that might be different than you would a store bought.
thank you

Congratulations Rook...Turkey huntin to me is like havin a buglin bull come in to your cow call...what a rush!!!! Here in Oregon we've still got a couple of weeks to go...Can't wait!!!!Anyway I've found that if you cut your breast meat off the bone, and use a Reynold's Foil broiler bag to cook your meat with you'll be happy with the results. To add the extra moisture you lose by skinin the bird, add some red onion, mushrooms, bacon, and pineapple rings. Season it as you desire.... You can toothpic the bacon and pineapple to the meat to lock in the moisture, And as I do with all of my meat on the grill, low heat, slow cook.....

Enjoy!!!

1. Get a large clear glass.
2. Add ice cubes near top.
3. Put wild turkey in glass until full with the ice cubes.
