If you knew the factual history of the Yowlumni Indians you wouldn't be so quick to judge.
Back before the White man came onto the land and ruined everything in nature, the Yowlumni Tribe was raided by a neighboring tribe. All the Yowlumni were killed except for one young girl and one young boy. Somehow, they managed to hide and lived.
The wolves noticed this and took in the children and raised them. Eventually the girl and boy got married and began repopulating the Yowlumni Tribe. That is why the wolf is sacred to the Yowlumni.
It's good that Fish&Wildlife recognizes this and honors the Tribe and the wolves.
