I drew the first rifle hunt in this unit and did some pre-season scouting but didn't see a whole lot early in the summer. I didn't want to be scouting during the bow season and ruin a bowhunter's chance of getting a deer by scouting during the hunt but I would like to know how the bow season went? Anybody out there have luck? see a lot of game? I hope it snows early this year so the migration starts early. Any conversation on this unit would be cool. Let me know and good luck to all the trail stompers out there

I got the first rifle hunt Oct. - Nov 2 hopefully will get a snowstorm before the hunt

I hunted the first rifle hunt last year and went home with my tag. I only saw one real shooter for about a second. We did get 6" of snow on the third day which helped a little. We spoke to some rangers who said the deer were hanging around the Navajo Dam which is outside the unit. My suggestion is to hunt Cabresto (FS 309). We saw a lot of deer moving through the area, but nothing legal. Two years prior, I tagged a nice 4x4 off of a gas line road just north of buzzard park. This was the last hunt in early November and deer were everywhere.

Best of Luck!

Well the area has recieved alot of rain in the past two days. but it will rain two days in a row and then be close to 90 degrees for four days. i don't know how the migration is doing as i havent had much time lately to go out and look.
anyways good luck with your hunt

Thanks for the reply I have hunted the unit a couple of times in the past and have had some luck in the upper part of the unit near the Cedar Rock area but hunting pressure is high -Good luck on all your hunts

longstep, my dad went woodcutting in 2b yesterday, he was next to the forest boundary on the west side. he said that there was deer tracks everywhere, he didn't see any though but that is probably because it was 12:00 when he was out there

good luck, hope you bag a big one
