A year or so ago I heard about some property that the UDWR purchased in Range Creek that sounded like it would provide some good hunting opportunites. If I remember right, the property would also open up some landlocked public ground too. Then I heard that there were a bunch of Indian ruins on the ground and that now they weren't going to allow hunters in there. Does anybody know the details and current status on this land deal? It was even on Doug Miller and in a SFW magazine if I remember right, and it made it sound like it could have some really good hunting on it. Thanks for any info.

My understanding is that you can only access the area by permit and only a select number of people per day. The road up the canyon is closed off and you have to walk in. I'm not sure if you can take horses or not.

I think you can only get a permit something like 5 days in advance and that each person in a party needs a permit. So if you and your twelve kids :D want to go you each need to purchase a permit.

The UDWR has more information on their web page. Sorry I'm not savy enough to post a link.

I think the only ones allowed on that property are the "Head Honchos" of the SFW. If they were to let every ordinary SFW member on that ground, the hunting wouldn't be as good for the ones that really deserve to be there.

Yes,what you are referring to is Don Peays honey hole. That is where you can find him on opening morning.

We are working on a land trade with the state. Any one can get in, but the road is closed most of the time. It's pretty much foot traffic only. The state very protective of all the indian ruins.

Don Peay is a hunter just like all of us.If he learned a spot, you didnt thats called scouting. If you get the permit you can go were he goes.Where does it say anything about only special people
can go there.Quite Crying and Pouting that someone may have some advantage over you.Find your own place or Get involved.....
