NM Unit 2B - Muzzle

Tough luck.

Also will be a tough hunt.

Find spots that are clear of roads.

Water will be the key.

hunt the forest.

Don't expect a trophy hunt.

That doesn't surprise me - however, I have heard that it is a good unit. Are there any locations that anyone knows that I should focus on. I am ok with not taking a B&C but would like to get a decent buck. How about guides that know the area?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-21-06 AT 09:49AM (MST)[p]I am a guide. My outfitter has got Elk hunters during that time so we don't usually do anything during that hunt.

Bryan Adair with Rimrock Outfitters can get you on some deer. He would be the first one I would call.

last year my brother drew same as yours! he didn't kill , we saw few doe, small buck! the weather was too hot! rained for 3 days straight, we saw many elk and turkey.

we hunt north of carrasa mesa and gas bugsy!

good luck! hope this year is better for your hunt!

Its a migration hunt any other hunt sucks . Ive killed big bucks up there and said i'm going to kill a big buck in velvet.guess again .five days of walking and one doe track.good luck.please prove me wrong.sorry. crazey

arroyobuck,
legendsguide knows that country pretty well and could tell you better than most guys , hes out there pretty often.
On the down side , I've been fortunate enough to hunt and go with friends who also drew unit 2, but they were all rifle and bow hunts, and have had great hunts. The muzzleloader hunt is tough , as mentioned above , its a migratory factor unit , once southern CO gets some winter weather , unit 2 loads up. Your hunt is in Sept and its still pretty warm , but like I said , legendsguide can tell you better , I'm sure not ALL the bucks go north into CO, theres still has to be some deer ...
