Big Buck- Photos from two years

I found this buck last year and we hunterd him in the bow and muzzleloader season. I was able to get a great photo of him before the archery season last year. He disappeared during the season and I was not sure if he made it. I saw him in early July and he looked pretty good again except for his weak right side ( even weaker than last year). He has added a couple more non-typical points on his left side for this year though. I have tried to get photos of him this summer but have not had much luck. Last monday while helping some friends hunt in the area he has been in I found his right side shed from last year. I didn't have time to look for the other side that day but wanted to go back later to see if i could find the other side. I went back out this morning in a light rain to look for the other side. While moving slowly through the pasture I spotted him ahead of me raking his antlers in a bush. I watched him and he seemed like he was going to stay put so I hurried back to the truck to get my camo and camera. I was able to sneak back to within 75 yards of the bush he was in. I couldn't see him and it was raining a little harder now. I moved slightly sideways and he must have noticed me as he stood up. I snapped a few quick photos before he bolted. I just can't seem to get another good photo of him. This time his antlers were hidden in the bush. The photos are not very good but you can see it is him. After he left I decided to continue looking for his other shed. Not 2 minutes later and no more than 150 yards from where he was bedded I found his left side. I am going to go back out Monday and see if I can get some better photos. Back home I measured the sheds and he was actually a little smaller than I thought. He ended up grossing 190 non-typical. He was wide though as I measured his outside spread from the tip of one sticker to the tip of the other and it was 38 inches, give or take a little depending on how they were sitting on his head. He made the cover of the calendar we made for 2007. Here are some photos.

Here he is at the end of August last year.

That is a big chunk of bone at the burr of that antler it must have really hurt that buck to drop that right side shed. I've never seen a shed with that much head bone that came off with the antler.

Oooo..that IS a great snap of him from last year. Nice cover shot. And last year's rack does look alot better, and not just because of the little crabby claw weak right side, it looks heavier too. Maybe it's just because you didn't get as good a snap of him this year though? Pretty cool, unique antlers though.

BTW...cute dog.

Cam,

Nice buck, and great pics. Wish I could say the same for the T-shirt ;-).
I couldn't tell if I was missing it with the brush behind him, or if he's missing the kicker on his right side this year. Either way, it's cool to be able to stay with a buck for a couple of years and see what he does from one year to the next.

thanks for posting.
