My elk hunting partner was lucky enough to draw one of the 20 coveted late Muley tags for the Slide Ridge unit. We were talking about what his expectations would be, he said he was going to hold out for something 28" wide with good mass and 4 deep points on each side, he wanted to make the best of his good fortune. He only had 1 week to hunt so he decided to focus on the last week in hopes for the snow and rut. Snow he did find, it finally forced him to retreat to the lower regions above Lake Chelan. Him and his brother immediatly started seeing better numbers of deer in the lower regions. They spotted his buck chasing a doe but it spotted them and moved off before he could take the shot. They picked up his track and eventually, well....let the following photo tell the rest, "Mission accomplished".

28 1/4", we are guessing mid 180's, we'll score it up after he picks up the rack from his taxidermist.

I also drew the late archery tag for Entiat, hopefully I will have similar results.

Congratulations on the awesome buck. I still have my slide ridge tag and are holding out. I have been hunting in the same area as you probably up above lake chelan. Was just curious if you guys were driving a tan toyota tacoma with oregon plates. Again that is an awesome buck.

I've got to give my partner some ####, he has every piece of top notch equipment, Swarovski bino's, Swarovski spotting scope and the list goes on, nothing but the best. Then he draws a tag of this caliber, has all intentions of shooting a trophy buck and all he brings to record the moment is a disposable camera.

I think it's time to tell Jennifer you need a new digital camera for Christmas. How am I going to help you brag about this thing if I don't have pictures share??????

Man that is a nice buck!!!!How much of that unit could you access with the snow the way it is??? I have been concerned about drawing that tag and not being able to get around well enough but maby I should not be......You guys did well!!! Good luck on your Achery tag. I hear that Stileko Creek can be real good for that hunt.

Great buck, cant wait to see more pictures!! Glad to see all the hard work paid off.

Congrats to your friend Coonhound, thanks for sharing the pics and good luck on your hunt!

I hunted the lower area's around Lake Chelan this year during the opener. It's definetly a late season area for big bucks. We saw plenty of smaller (local) bucks but I would love to hunt it late....very much a migration area. Congrats

That's a sweet buck your buddy shot. The body looks huge! Thanks for posting them up for us.

Im not going to let him live that down.. Good luck next week in eniat I can't wait to hear the stories and hopefully see the results!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to your put on a top caliber buck. That big boy is sweet, I hope to find one myself like that next week, Ill have to keep my fingers crossed. Good luck everyone.

What a smoker buck, congratulations. I love the heavy mass and dark horns, truly a trophy! Excellent job..

Coonhound40 is this buck the same one I saw at Natures Way Taxidermy in Puyallup today? If so the picture dont do that buck justice!!! I officially would call that a TOAD!! I picked up and held that rack and it is AWESOME!!! I can tell you that no one in my party saw anything of that caliber in the Entiat unit this weeek. Congratulations to you and your friend for nailing down a real washington trophy!

I think thats the one. Here is another angle, lousy photo, it's his brother giving you a front view.

Beautiful Buck!!! Congrats, but DANG that looks cold! Buck looks like he was in major rut!

Not being familar with the reigon, Is this area in eastern Wash?\

RUS

Yes, on the east side of the Washington Cascade Range on the south shore of Lake Chelan, about 100 miles south of the Canadian border.

Man that's a beautiful dear. What a hog of a body. Not bad antlers either. :) Congrats.

Dub

Great buck. A friend of mine also had a tag in the same unit. Took a decent 4 pt. Just curious how many points it took for your friend to draw?

Any info on the score of this pig? I'm guessing that he's atleast 185, closer to 189 though is my first impression! Congrats.

Unbelievable!! Couldn't even imagine seeing, letting alone taking a buck like that up there. Pretty lucky for sure. Thanks for the pics.

Hey, get those horns to work so we can score them. I'm sure everyone would like hear the results.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-06 AT 05:40PM (MST)[p]Finally, after 3 weeks of begging he finally brought his rack to work so I could score it up for him.

Earlier I said it was 28 1/4" wide it was actually 28 3/4"

Our initial guestimate was right on, I scored him up at 184 1/8"

I'll tell you what,I could sit around and fondle a rack like that anyday of the week, pretty nice.

Coon

No Kiddin!! Not only is the rack nice!! That buck looks huge! I wonder what the weight was on that toad?
