I tried to get the Pahvant archery hunters to write a post and they would even speak up. I don't know if the guys who drew Pahvant archery are even on Monstermuleys! Maybe they didn't give any Pahvant archery tags out this year!

I drew a NM early rifle bull elk hunt. Hunt starts almost in November. Hows that for early rifle? Yep gotta love NM. the land of the A-holes! No biggie. I got my bulls pegged. Will post some pics in November buddy!

Good luck on your elk hunt, better in November than warming your hands over a virtual reality hunt like the rest of us will be doing.

I'd rather be hunting elk in Nov. than seeing pictures and reading tails of wonder that someone else was lived out. You'll get no sympathy from me, you misfortunate and miserable, early season NM elk hunter

Thanks lump. No worries. I scouted up my bulls late last year. They are just now starting to leave the area for the rut so I plan to see them back in my hole come november. Nothing like huntin your own backyard.
 
Stinky, We were down on the "ROCK PILE" this weekend, my brother has a big stinky bull tag down there. You boys must have run all them 400"ers over on Monroe or the Boulder...All we saw were p-cutters and deer/spike hunters....I think we'll give them a couple more weeks before we get to serious...You don't have any honey holes you like to share do ya???

I can tell you what I saw last year on my Dutton muzzy hunt if you think it might help. I am have no problem trying to help someone out :)
 
A friend of a cousin's nephew's buddy saw a 7x7 killed on the Wasnatch on Saturday...... or was it Fri? haha

I heard it really was a biggun but sorry, no pics.

looks like i nice bull layin in the wallow on the bottom right of the pic.....
 
Yes thats the one I was talking about. I guess I should have been more clear. The bigger bull in the wallow was bugle'en tare 'en up the mud and grass. He was just a 5 x 6 . The bigger bulls are still together. The small ones are running with the cows like there are hot stuff. Another week or two and the big boys will be running the show.
This bull was 30 yards from our blind. The spike was close !
No blood and guts Bessy, But some LE bulls ;-)
 
No pictures, but I saw a 4x4 and 6x6 in the back of trucks heading off the Monroe this weekend. Nothing great, and I was surprised by the 4 point, but hey, they harvested their bulls opening weekend. Better than me....

I got a N. Cache tag Bopper, you gotta give me a minute. Wife's gone to Disney land till sunday and I got the little ones, so I'm out till next monday anyhow. It's too damn hot, the elk aren't even moving till dark.

I'll get it done, can't promise it'll be a big 'un.

Be patient.
 
Smitty, your wife went to Disneyland without the kids and left you with the kids?! That is a scary thought. Your poor poor children.
 
Listen Louie! it's not really that bad, but i'm sure I'll be ready to kill something by the time she gets back! It's keeping me out of the woods, wich is probably a good thing considering its 97 degrees!

Hanging out in "BERRYLAND" this weekend to try and chase down one of those 450"+ dinks for the old man, we should have lots of help from what we saw last weekend :)!! Hope to have something to show you B-Bop...it does seem a little slow coming this year!! If you have some GPS coordinates to one that would sure help things out :D!!!

Tough hunt so far all across the state. I think there's been a few bulls killed but very few. I think they'll start rolling in pretty steady after Labor Day.

I've yet to hear a PEEP out of an elk in 2011!
 
I never heard a peep out of an elk last year until the 28th. Aug. 30th was the first day I heard bugles for real during the middle of the day.

I saw 7 bulls up on the Wasatch on Thurs. that were all together still in a crazy place. One that might be 350+!!!

The weeds are so high this year and the bugs so thick in some places it seems the elk are on a completely different game plan than I've ever seen in my 31 years of hunting them.

Seems like it might be an odd year and if the elk are rounding out like the deer there are going to be some real crackers killed.

Hey B-Bop,
I think all the 450" bull killers will forget to post the pix here on MM. They'll skip this important step so they can get their article published in one of the hunting magazine. Everyone wants to be a movie star.

It's been hot, green, wet, bugs and early for good elk activity. Add this to the incredible number of hunters in the field, it makes this a tough year, so far.

Good luck to all the hunters.... but leave one for my daughter's rifle hunt. (she might settle for a 450" bull but that's kinda small) LMAO
