Hybrid,
I'm sure I'll write up something for one of the mags so I'll save the story for then. As for score, have no idea. This was a personal acheivement more than anything and I could care less about his score. Me and this buck have a ton of history together.

Steve that is to cool! Congat's and high fives.

That is one heck of an acomplishment.I look forward to reading about it.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-10-06 AT 11:02PM (MST)[p]Good things happen to good hunters !!

I was fortunate to have seen that buck alive on the hoof - he's a great buck !!

Once again - congrats on a great ending to a great season !

What an awesome buck! I cannot explain how exciting it was watching through the spotter! Seeing MNT 60 yards from you and not hearing a shot was nerve racking. Congrats again!

Congrats on the wicked buck. Looking forward to seeing it published.

When in doubt, floor it.

HEY BADGEBOY!!!

WAS THE FIRST SHOT TO THE EAR,JUST KIDDING!!!

LOOKS LIKE HES GOT SOME AGE TO HIM!!!

I LIKE HOW THE WHITE COMES CLEAR UP AROUND HIS EYES!!!

GLAD TO SEE YOU FOUND HIM,YOU HAD ME WORRIED FOR A WHILE!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING YOU DON'T NEED TO MAKE US BUY ANOTHER MAGAZINE JUST FOR THE STORY,LETS HEAR IT & WHATS UP WITH THE BALACK & WHITE PICTURES???

Way to go BCBoy!!! Way to stay with this buck and finish what you started. There are a lot of hunters that would just write him off and shoot another buck. Great buck and great history between the 2 of you. Congrats!

It's always an adventure!!!

Awesome accomplishment! Congrats! How did his teeth look? Do you think he would have made another winter? Thats the kind of trophy that ranks highest in my book. You just don't find them like that anymore.

Hey great job dude! Talk about history you two have between ya! I wouldn't have wanted to lose our contest to any other buck!

...And to think that even after posting a map of his whereabouts and showing everyone pictures of his sheds you were able to beat 99.9% of the hunter's in BC to that buck!!!:)

Congratulations Steve.......almost sad that the chase is finally over, eh?. What a massive mature deer with a unique face marking....almost "mask" like. Awesome buck for sure.

BOHNTR )))---------->

THAT IS SO COOL. GOOD TO KNOW THE HISTORY ON THE BUCK SEE THE PICTURES AND THEN TO HAVE YOU HARVEST THE BUCK, AFTER YOU HIT ONCE ALLREADY. PROPS TO U BCBOY.

BUGLEMN

Bone Addict,
The teeth still look good but his body is a mess. I've shot 2 points with bigger bodies. To think a couple of years ago he was a flippin' Tank too. Nothing but bone now. His back bone sticks way up and his ribs are all showing. I'm confident this would have been his last winter. With the amount of lions and wolves in the area he would have been scat for sure.

Tuffer,
LMAO!!!! You put in a great effort dude. That buck of yours is awesome. Is he your best to date? You getting him mounted?

BOHNTR,
I am sooo flippin' beat right now from going nonstop that it was a relief to finally drop him. To tell you the truth, I was looking forward to the season being over. Need some good R&R as physically I'm no different than that buck. I'm wasted away to nothing too. All my pants are falling down now and its not like I needed to lose any weight. It'll be good to pound back a bunch of Christmas Baking and gain it all back. :)

BOBCAT,
Figured you wanted to hear the update. The B/W's are just teasers. When I get my film developed I'll post up some more.

Great job Steve! I can only imagine how awesome it must have been to finally wrap your hands around those antlers. You deserve him and I'm glad you were able to take him before he died.

No chew marks in that set! ;-)

NvrEnuf

NvrEnuf,
That is what I kept on saying after I had him on the ground. At least I don't have to worry all winter as some f'ing tree rat chews on his sheds. ;)

Pictures of sweet success indeed !!!!

That snow is what pricks my interest; how deep was it, was it crusted underneath & if so how did you sneak, didn't look like there is much forage on those tree so pawing down threw that snow to find anything to eat must be a beach. I can understand why he's poor, harsh conditions.
Plus if that was gona be his winter homestead, seems to me you did him a huge favor.

Browtine requested some more pics from over the years so here they are.

MnT 01/02. I picked up the inline side that spring.
IMG_0414.jpg

There was virtually no snow in 02/03. All the bucks wintered in the high elevation timber. Didn't see him that winter. Saw him again the winter of 03/04. He was indeed a monster that year. 200+ but only got some really ruff dark video of him through the spotter. Nothing worthy of a jpg.

04/05 He was the best he ever was. 225 gross.

05/06 Age was catching up to him. Dropped 20 inches. 205 gross.

I broke out all the good smileys for ya buddy!! Hell of a Buck, and even more special because of the history.

:( Somebody didn't like bouncing betty :(

Great job to finally get him. Sure glad you got him before the wolves or cougars got him. I know he means so much to ya!

Awsome deer! Did you ever think about letting him go with all the history you shared together? It would be hard to think of such a thing but some people get attached over time, did you have any of those feelings? I think knowing if you did would make the story of this hunt all the better.

Congratulations BC!! Incredible story and history no doubt. It was like following one of 'littlefoots' elk. We all got to know M-n-T pretty good. Happy you were able to get him. Please tell us your gonna kick down and get him mounted? :) We want to see the final results in a few months.

WOW! I woke up this morning and had to check the forum to make sure i wasnt dreaming! What a TOAD! Im glad to see some of the video came out alright those stills came out better than some of your previous ones :). You definetely earned this trophy! 6 years of watching him finally paid off.

MS,
His cape is a shambles. Hair just falling out in clumps with rips and tears all over. I'm meaning big chunks of hair. Tried to salvage something but no such luck. I know BCBucks kept the cape to his Big Un so I may have to bribe him for it. But....I love the European look. We'll see. I can always mount him later.

Matt,
Woke up this morning and had to look to see if it wasn't Dec 10th and yesterday was all but a dream. But in fact today is the 11th and I have MnT in my hands. :)

There was never a moment that I thought about letting him go yesterday. Knowing I had a bullet in him from 3 weeks ago, I was driven even harder to finish the job I started.

YEEEE HAAWWWW Finally! A buck that lives up to the legend!

The only ROY thinking the NOMAD buck better do the same!

Thank you BCBoy for taking us less fortunate (or less determined) on you adventure with this buck. What a totally cool story, through in the tent, the sheds, man what a history.
Your posts made me feel like I was with you. Thank you.
You showed the quality of person and hunter you are in your determination to follow-up after the first hit.

Congratulations Steve! What an epic story, and what a finish! I have to hand it to you, your dedication and perseverence are unmatched. You earned that buck.

But what are you going to do next year with no MNT to pursue?

Congratulations again.

bcmulie

Awesome Steve, congrats on an epic adventure. Its amazing how similar his antlers were from year to year once he seemed to hit maturity. Were you able to find where you hit him the first time? Was he showing any sign of the previous hit?

CAn't believe the legend of massntrash is finally over, that thing looks like a moose with all the palmation, glad you got em, you deserved it. Now you'll have to find another buck for next year.....

Congratulations Steve. Fantastic story.

A true example of a trophy hunt and hunter where score means absolutely nothing. Very refreshing indeed.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-11-06 AT 09:03PM (MST)[p]Great buck, congrats. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story. I can't believe your going to make your buddies of MM wait!! You know we are having a hard time sleeping. Way to be

Rutnbuck

That is a great Buck, and Glad you got to finish what you started with him from a couple of weeks ago.

What a buck and gotta love the colour on those antlers, way to go!

If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made of meat?

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. That is so cool and thanks for bringing us along for the ride. Great buck and great time to take him.

IB

Congrats Steve, that's one hell of a buck. The years, the story, the sheds; it's one of those "can't get any better". Seriously though Steve, you deserve it man. You've put in the effort and it has finally paid off. Whopper buck buddy! So now who's having the good year?

Awesome job there Steve.

Now that's what I call a hunt of a lifetime!

A huge Congrats.!

Since you're not gonna tell us the story on here, be sure and tell us what mag its gonna be in so we can all read it.

Man!! You guy's in the "GREAT WHITE NORTH" are taking some truly fantastic bucks.

Do you feel just a 'little bit sorry' to see the saga end?

Congrats' on a great multi year hunt. Seems you got it figured out!

Idahobugler,
Haven't been on here much this fall but I did read the story of your buck and I have to say that is what kept me going thinkin MnT was still alive after my initial hit more than 3 weeks earlier. Seeing your dedication to find your buck and having that turn into a success story kept my thoughts focused. Have to say thank you man cause there were times I was in doubt. Heck, everytime I heard a raven I was thinkin' it may have found MnT.

For those that were wondering where that intial hit was, I found healed up wounds enter and exist the chest just under the shoulder blade at the pit level. That leg was busted at the junction with the blade but there was no external evidence of a hit to the leg. He did have a limp but that didn't slow him down at all. The chest wound looks like I was only an inch or so from clipping the lungs.

Congrats BCBOY. The old boy was not likely to make it much longer, but I've got to wonder if there was any sadness when you actually had him down. I've never chased one that many years, but if I did, I think I would be extreamly excited and sadend at the same time.

BCBOY,

Every time you post some pics of sheds you have found I want to go out and have a squirrel shooting frenzy :)

BCBoy,
I'm glad what I did inspired you to keep going. It obviously turned out awesome for both of us. I know your story as well will keep me going on other hunts when I think all is lost or the chips are down. If we all as hunters can feed of others successes then what more can we ask for. Get rested up for next year as I'm sure another chapter is about to start again. :)

Congrats again on an awesome buck and very cool sequence with the sheds and MnT dead.

You gots some funky lookin ears there badge boy! Congrats on the buck sounds like a hell of a hunt.

Damn! That's a LOT of bone BC!!

Exactly what serious quality dedication is all about. Smoking deer with a better story.

Congratulations Steve. What a ride it has been. A most deserved trophy!

Now maybe you can spend a little more time as "Badge Boy"?:)

Big-time congrats, Steve. That's a richly deserved buck and we are all glad you got him. I can hardly wait to see the magazine, see the layout and hear the whole story. You deserve good stuuf and have certainly more than paid you dues. It's good to see effort rewarded.

I still want to move to BC or alberta; there's just nothing like it.

Congratulations on getting this great buck. That is great, after all of these years and all......a true trophy of a lifetime. To match wits with this ole' boy must have been exciting.

ICM,
I haven't forgot about your email. Been pretty darn busy here but now that the season is over, I'll try to respond over the Christmas break.

Nice deer. Curious to know what an official Boone and Crockett Scoresr gives him for a gross, and a net. Sorry if thats been posted on one of these sights, cant find it.

Bittersweetmuleymeat

Just curious, (for reference purposes) Thats a very intruiging set of antlers. Curious to see what they do on paper.

While I ain't no official scorer, I have learned from a few. I've got MnT grossing 202 inches as a 9x7.

WOW, guess I was wrong, I couldnt get him to paper out that much. Congrats, thats a hard one to top.

Steve, Congrats on the end of a six year quest. Very cool to see the sheds along with MNT. Way to go man! Looking forward to seeing what you choose to chase next.
