My brother in law has a late tag this year for the Manti. We have been scouting a lot this summer and during the fall. We have seen some great bulls and a lot of shooters, since his expectations are he just wants one above 300. We were wondering when do the bulls start moving and when/where is the best time to scout leading up to the hunt to know where the bulls will be in November. Any info would be great.

I just took a bull off there with my muzzleloader and was told it would of been gone in a couple more weeks. At least that what the locals say. Hunt as low as possible in November Id say. I killed at prob 8000'. good luck. there was still some gnarly sounding ones in there.

Thanks for the reply. Yes there are some great ones still left. I just dont where they are going to go in a few weeks.

I had that tag last year. We hunted on snowmobiles, horses and 4 wheelers. We saw alot of elk every where we went, If posible be ready for any weather and have a good spoting glass. Watch the tracks that will tell you where to go.

The bulls start moving as soon as the rut is over. They will pull off by themselves and lick their wounds. Usually by mid October.

Went out again last Friday morning and found a nice 6x7. I hope he stays around where he is at, but with the storms rolling in he could be long gone out of the area we found him in. My brother in law was just saying to himself only two more weeks.lol

i had that tag last year, learned a TON about where they go and where, found a lot of them low but also there was a lot of snow last year at this time, i found one canyon the day before the opener that was LOADED with bulls from 300 to 340, outfitter hit it on the opener and shot two bulls out of it, i went else were because i was chasing a 360 bull all over the place, that canyon always had elk in it through the hunt though because it s where they winter, if you want to know more about it p.m. me and i can tell you the location

Thanks for the PM's they will help. My brother in law and I will check those places out. I am getting excited and I don't even have a tag. Can't wait to draw my Muzzleloader tag next year on this unit. I will post pics for sure when we get one.

Went out again today. Scouted high and middle and then found a really big crossing where they have went to lower ground. Can't wait should be a fun hunt for my brother in law.
