That back Bull is a Real Trophy!

He's got a Beard back & Front!:D

Photo Shop. Those bulls were not originally together, and I have no idea what those wierd beards are. The picture just looks fake.

I signed up just to comment on this picture. So go easy on me..........Now imagine Ron Burgundy from "Anchor Man" saying this. "Don't act like you're not impressed!..... it's an optical dilushion...."

Now for the real answer to why Utah grows elk with beards. It's not realy beards it's an old barbed wire fence line behind the bulls with cedar posts that have been tipped sidways a little bit. Either that, or the last bull to the left also has a beard coming out of his milk dud making hole?!?!?!

There, you've gone and done it now nashhunter. You've popped my bubble. I was hoping they were a new hybrid WAPITUR!

Pretty cool bulls anyway.
Zeke

Sorry Zeke.... I guess you can call me the fun police. I will try to let you have fun with your bubble for a while next time before I pop it with my FUN-DAR. It is neat to see what the right angle and depth of field will do to a photo. It is a really cool picture though. I like it....I like it a....LOT!

Where I come from we usually don't see a bunch of awesome bulls in a sage flat miles away from a mountain and any cover. But then again, I live in Utah, so I guess I'm retarded.

Still looks like wierd pic to me, but like you said I'm no photo shop expert. I guess it is real, but can you blame me for doubting it? Nice bulls anyway.

I wouldn't have believed it myself if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes a few weeks earlier. These bulls hang out in the flat like cattle all summer, but they sure disappear fast when hunting season starts.

Maybe 'retarded' is a little strong, but certainly haven't spent much time in Wyoming or Nevada.

Some city people have probably only seen elk in a zoo. I TOOK THIS PHOTO. It has NOT been retouched or photoshopped as you accuse. Anyone is southern Utah who knows me and my integrity know I would not submit a fraudulent picture. I have watched these elk all summer. Lee Bracken 435-231-1774

I watch a herd of bulls. minus the beards, in 07 just like that.
They dang things came out into the flats at about 6pm, ate there, and then went back.
I could never intercept the dang things.

Hey Lee?

How'd you get them Beards lined up Perfectly on them Bulls?:D

I am an avid camera buff and usually carry a professional Nikon SLR. This time I just had a little Sony point and shoot. I took a dozen or more photos at about 25 yards while they just stood and posed for me and my wife. I was so excited I didn't notice the "beards" until I uploaded the pictures back home. Earlier in the spring there were 6, then it dropped to 5, and finally this group of 4 could be seen about every day if you knew where. It is amazing to have one bull become almost domestic like they do at Yellowstone, but to have a group like this is unlike anything I have ever seen. This picture was taken July 14 when they were still growing. They never spooked, I finally just drove off. One of those rare moments.
Update: One of these bulls was taken last week with a bow not far from where I took this picture.

Don't worry man, I believe you. It just looked a little suspect for a minute. Can you blame me? 4 awesome bulls out in the wide open? You just don't see that very often.

You are right. It is an old wooden post / barb fence. If I knew how to "photoshop" as some of the comments suggest, I would have cleaned up what looks like turkey beards.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-30-12 AT 08:56AM (MST)[p]Awesome picture for sure, and all are great, great bulls! You should post that picture over on the HuntingWashington site, tell them they are hanford bulls and then mention the word native american. Then, just sit back and watch that post explode to about 30 pages!

Yeah, just who does that guy think he is anyway?!

"I don't really know how to put this, but I am kind of a big deal. People know me. Um, I'm very important. I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mohagany".

Sorry, can't pass the opportunity for an RB quote.

Jeez, I post a simple picture and then get slammed calling it fake and photoshop. I try to defend myself and only get more sarcasm.
This is clearly not the place for me or my pictures.

Great picture Lee. The 6x7 was taken last week by an archery hunter from St. George.

"You'll never get a big one if you shoot a little one"

I bow hunted Idaho for elk on a ranch and nat forest land, starting the first day, you could see at least 300 head of elk laying out in the hot 90 degrees heat everyday.they would leave the fields about 11:00 and head up the draws to reach the dark timber.i have watched them even being herded by a cattle drive, and the cowboys never knew the elk were in front of the cattle being pushed.Elk adapt to what ever area they like to be in.By the way, they never bugled during the rut.you could go into the high country and the bulls there would bugle. I have never found more harder bulls to hunt, than ranch land elk.

Uh...ummm.... You obviously do not know the guy who took the photo.

And if the photo is fake, then I guess this must be fake too....

Same four bulls. Same location. A few weeks before the photo was taken. Probably just a coincidence.
