LAST EDITED ON Sep-11-12 AT 12:22PM (MST)[p]Well, I'm aware that I will be taking alot of sh!t for this but here goes.

I shot a bull Sunday night down on the Boulder unit, about 5:25, long story short.....arrow hit a branch/limb about 10' from the bull and deflected hitting hime in the guts.

Found 3 drops of blood, and could only track the bull 50-60 yards before he slowed down enough to not tear up the ground. Looked all over hell the next day, had to get back home for work.

If anybody is running bears with dogs, or knows anybody I would love to talk to them.

If anybody has a rifle, or muzzy bull tag and comes across my bull, please get in contact with me.

If anybody finds my bull, I will pay a reward.

I have trail camera pics of him, he should have a unique enough rack to distinguish him.

I will be headed back down the weekend of the 22nd if he hasn't been found.

Thanks for your help.

Somehow it won't let me upload the pics.

The only crap you will get from me is the "crap" happens to all of us at some point. Sorry to hear of your bad luck, and hope you can at some point at least retrieve the antlers. Good Luck.

That's a bummer. Sadly, if a guy hasn't experienced this form of heartbreak in the field...he probably hasn't been hunting very long. It's a long shot but good luck tracking down the bull.

I'm stuck getting some work done, but plan on heading back down in about 10 days to look again.

I've replied to the PM's.

Thanks.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-11-12 AT 06:03PM (MST)[p]smitty. Sorry to hear that. I know it tears you up as it would me. I hope you're able to eventually find him.

Not sure what you meant about finding someone with bear dogs? A GOOD bear dog does not live very long if it tracks elk.

Eel

If someone has bear dogs, a dead elk would attract bears and maybe we'd find my bull.

I've got pics that I tried to post but it won't let me. I can email them if someone is better at it than I am.

Thanks for all the PM's guys, I'm hoping that I can bring my bull home.

I'm still having problems uploading the pics.

I was shooting a radial x-weave with a montec broadhead, the arrow should still be in him. green and white blazer vanes.

I plan on heading down again if he's not found by this weekend. Either way my tag is punched.

Thanks again for the help.

smitty---Click on my email addy next to my username and send me that pictures and I'll try to get them up here. They probably just need to be downsized to meet the site requirements. You'll need to do it quickly though, as I'm heading for Wyoming tomorrow night.

Sorry to here about your situation. No negativity here, just hope that this situation will work out the best it can. Hope you find your bull. Hunting is always good, but every now and then it sure throws in a curve ball. Wish you the best.

I have a video crew down there for the next 5 days doing a video follow up to a sighting. If they run across anything I will let you know. If anyone down there has any mysterious sightings other than typical big game let me know. That is what I'm after.

Smitty Sorry to hear about your bad luck but stuff happens. If you can contact me i may be able to help you i live in Escalante and i Know the Boulder very well. I Hunt it ever year.

Bummer Smitty...Been there and done that...Sh*t happens like that if you hunt archery enough. My Bull still "haunts" me.

Good luck and I hope someone can recover the horns for you.

))))------->

Elkun, my bull is dead somewhere down there near where I shot him. I will not be killing another. My tag is punched.

It can happen to anyone thats hunted long enough knows your pain. I used to not think it could happen to me but it did about 8 years ago I hit a small Aspen I had not seen in the scope rifle hunting...Blood ran out and I spent 3-days looking for that bull. I also considered my tag punched and even told other hunters where to look to get him.
I never want to feel that pain again and I sympothize with you.

Do you have relatives or friends that can look while your at work? Have you asked work if you can take a few days off to try finding him again?
If I was closer I would help try and find him.
My best to you in recovering him.
Jerry

Oh it sucks. That was my 4th trip down, over 3100 miles driven total, 10 days away from home, $803 in fuel, blah, blah, blah......I was 2/10th of a second away from fist pumping after having made a perfect kill shot, to now. First animal I've ever lost, I'm 37 now, killed my fair share over the years.....still can't wrap my head around it. too 10 years to draw, now I've gotta wait 5, might take another 10.......judast

still can't figure out how to load the pics. If I could, it'd make you sick too. Biggest bull I've ever been that close to.

Sh!tty.

I think there's alot of guys that would do the same damn thing.

Best of luck finding him. I went through the same thing few years back. Still hurts like yesterday. Maybe someone will find him during remaining hunts. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Hey! Anyone who is checking this post, Smitty sent me pics and I am posting them up for him. Here are a couple of pics of the bull on the hoof. Hope this might help a bit; I hope he or someone finds the bull! (Are they ok, Smitty?)

Dang smitty - I am heartsick for you! That is a definitely buzz kill for sure, and I felt that way before seeing the pics. Now though, ouch, just makes it that much worse. Good luck on finding your bull.
