So I would not believe it if I did not hear em myself! We heard 3-4 bugles Monday morning, with chuckles. Weird.. Anyone else heard this?

Last year in arizona during the late rifle hunt in late november had a small bull bugling right by our camp. I gave out a couple cow calls and brought him right in to within 50 yards it was cool.

I was on a late hunt last year in 2 feet of snow and the elk were all herded up by then and you couldnt go 10 seconds without a bull screaming. I wouldnt have believed it if I wasnt there.

Yes several times on late hunts in Wyoming. In fact I killed a Bull there by following the herd by listening to them talk as they where moving through the timber.

How can you even ask such a question? Didn't you see that bull in Jeremiah Johnson bugling in the middle of winter? That's greenhorn knowledge.

:)

I've heard them the past three years during the muzz spike hunt. I have heard that the cows that don't get bread in September cycle again around the first of November. That is why you see come calves that are about two months behind a lot of the time. I have noticed that the bigger bulls have seperated but the younger bulls usually get in on this action.

I was just in Southern Utah on a late season hunt this past weekend and heard bugles.

Yes, but as you know it's not nearly as common as bugles in October.
Sounds like you were out having a little fun again. Cool.

My wife and I were in Yellowstone, the first week of June, 1984. About 75yds off the road, laying in a small river, hoofs on the bank, body in the water, was a calf elk, with the cow going into and out of the water. I pulled over and ran back (without the camera due to the rain/snow) to watch, and the cow is frantic, and BUGLING like crazy. The calf eventually lost his hold on the bank and was swept downriver, the cow following, and still bugling.

I had no idea cows could bugle.

Mr K22hornet,
I've only heard cows bugle a couple times. I think it's pretty rare... but what do I know?

The first time I heard a cow bugle was very confusing.... I'm scarred for life because of it!

I have heard bugles in February!
Just go to any hunting show and you will hear them all night long.
They aren't very real though....(What a smart-A response)

My bro in law forgot to get the front teeth so he had to hike back in this morning! But he said they were bugling again and chasing cows. I wonder if they can have a second rut like whitetailed deer. Those cows that dont get bred cycle again? Who knows!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-12 AT 08:25PM (MST)[p]Yep - Second estrous cycle...

HOOK 'EM!
