Elk and water

How often do elk need to drink? How often do they visit water holes? Are they like humans where they drink every day? From my trail cams it seems like it can be a few days between drinks, unless they are visiting other water holes. I'm just curious.

They definitely need to drink every day. Generally they'll go to water twice a day. They are just going to other water holes.

They do need water. There tends to be seeps and springs all over in mountain country.

Think elk and a circle, the reason they are hit that water every few days it because they are moving and only returning to that area every few days, The other days they are at a different point of that circle.
Sometime you can get that pattern down and hunt the area they are in a lot of times instead of sitting that one waterhole you move to the next water they are going to hit.
