thanks to all of you for the kind words, I too saw this buck in august and watched him all through september. I new other people would be hunting this deer. so I decided instead of hunting this deer I would sit back with a spotting scope and watch where this deer goes after all the hunting pressure. Well it payed off and this deer went on the backside of the mountain we all know. I ended up watching this buck for two days before I went in on him. I spent the night in the timber above where I watched this buck feed the previous two days I didn't sleep much and I froze to death but when the sun started coming up I was ready. and at 8:47 a.m. there he was at the edge of the timber one shot from my 7 mag and the buck was mine. I think everyone else that was looking for this buck were all looking way too high. you guys would be shocked to have seen where this buck was at. I to started looking for him up high and after opening day I watched this buck disappear over the top (damn rookies with there flashlights) anyways this buck was over half way down the backside of the mountain a week later. and that is where he stayed. he took up residence with some elk that were back there. that is how I spotted him I couldn't figure out where he went when one morning I saw some elk feeding in this little opening I pulled up the binos to see if any were bulls and low and behold who was feeding within feet of these elk. the big daddy. I never did see him in the evening only in the morning and he would only be out for about 20 minutes. I shot him at about 120 yards and he never moved a muscle.

It always amazes me what bucks will do once the hunt starts. I can't wait to see the pix and congrats on what sounds like a great buck.
