Can someone save me some time and maybe some $$$??? Can you apply for a NR PP and only send in the reduced price doe fee???

Starting over myself (Drew last year) and applying for girlfriend and her son. After applying her for Utah, both for Wy deer and antelope, and Nv coming up I was hoping to save some $$$ in Colorado.

Thanks in advance.

Hey man I am not 100% sure, but what I think is that if you put in for a doe tag you could send the reduced amount. But if you are putting in for a preferance point you will still have to send the full amount of a non resident buck tag. I think that if that was ok to send in a reduced amount it would be clear in the regs because that would be something new to us.

I hope so. I just applied online for the non-resident preferance point only, no 2nd or 3rd choices and it only charged me 79 dollars.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-11-08 AT 03:28PM (MST)[p]When applying for the preferance point only do you need to purchase the Habiat Stamp? I just applied on line and purchased it just in case but was wondering if I could have saved myself a couple extra bucks.

1) You don't need to buy a habitat stamp if you only apply for a preference point.

2) It only talks about RESIDENTS getting a price break on the pp point on deer and ONLY if you apply for a point on first choice and a reduced fee doe tag as a second choice. It doesn't mention nonresidents. If you are a nonresident and are sending a check in, I would call them to be sure before mailing. If it is for the wrong amount, you don't get a preference point.

NO, I don't think they allow you to collect points on reduce price deer--that was my interpretation.

You have to buy a habitat stamp before they will mail you your license if you draw but it is not required to apply for the hunt.

I just got of the phone with a gentleman from the game dept. and he confirmed that if you only apply for a preferance point you only have to pay 79.00 as a non-resident however if you apply for a second choice buck liscence you must pay the higher price. Hope that helps.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-12-08 AT 12:43PM (MST)[p]I applied yesterday on-line using a CC as a Non-Resident and only applied for a Preference Point. The final charge was $79.

I applied for elk plus PP on deer and I think it was $608.00 or something close so I guess the deer PP was about $79.00. Better than $304.00

No doubt Colorado is gonna institute either a license fee or PP fee in the next couple of years. WANNA BET?????

I can't remember for shure but I think if you bought a liscense the year before they refund all of it, if not they charge you something like 25 and refund the rest. You might want to check those numbers though, it spells it out pretty clearly in the proc but I don't have mine handy to check.

I think Big is right, any license I believe. Got deer tag last year so I should get all back but $3.00. When I draw an elk tag this year :) I should get all but $3.00 back next year for deer too. The next year I'll get a 3rd season deer tag and get all my PP $$$ except $3.00 back for my elk point. The year after that I should draw an archery elk tag and get my deer $$$ back.

Not sure what I'm gonna do in 2011 but anything to save $25.00
LMAO

LAST EDITED ON Mar-20-08 AT 03:23PM (MST)[p]I applied online for points only today and called the Colorado Fish and Game department to make sure the prices were right, they said they reduced them this year. At least for the deer and elk points I was doing. The deer was $79 and elk were $254 my total was $333. Ill get a refund of $277 I believe, $333 minus $25 per point and $8 in fees.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well preserved body, but to skid in sideways totally worn out shouting HOLY SH!T WHAT A RIDE!!!

They reduced the price of a doe tag. If you apply PP only or PP with a doe tag as second choice its only $79. Elk has been that way for awhile, price of cow tag in same situation.
