CO application question

Hope someone can help me with a question: A resident and a NR each have the same amount of preference points, would it be a good idea to apply together as a group, since group applications are given priority? Or would the NR hurt the drawing chances of the resident. The stats show that resident and NR required pp were the same. Thanks in advance!

Not sure any state gives priority to group apps. Where did that info come from? If you apply as a resident with a nonresident, you will be treated in the draw as a nonresident. This means you are subject to nonresident tag allocations, I believe.

It's Bush's fault!!!

I am not sure about the priority thing either, I have heard that many times, but have never been able to confirm it. It sounds like something the DOW would do to generate more revenue, but again, I am not 100% sure about that. As the gentleman stated, if you apply as a group with nonresidents, you are put into the nonresident pool and would go with the alloted tags for that hunt, giving you as a resident less of a chance of drawing the tag. I made the mistake quite a few years ago when I applied with some friends from Michigan, it took two PP to draw when it shouldn't have taken me any. Good Hunting!!!!

Dude,

You gotta change your name!;-)

As a group you will not get a priority. I am sure of that. I also agree, I think you go in the NR pool when a resident and NR apply as a group. Not positive though.

Do groups get priority? Absolutely not.

As far as the rest of your question, we don't have enough info to help you. You would definatley be in the nonresident pool of tags. Will this be in an 80/20 unit or a 65/35 unit? Remember too that nonresidents do not have even one guaranteed tag. The 20 or 35% are caps, not quotas.

For the most part, if you go into a draw with a nonresident you lower your odds. However, if you both have 2 points and 100% of those with 2 points got picked regardless of resident status, you are probably ok.
