I have been using Realtree hardwoods for camo an seems to work fine. I do need some new camo pants and wondering what you guys use.

Mainly Sitka gear, but I have a set of Kings Desert Shadow and a set of Realtree's Advantage Max-1 as well - All three are great patterns, but I enjoy my Sitka gear the most.

I like the Mossy oak brush.. but just about anything works. Crye also makes some nice camo, pricy though. Some will say you can wear red and blue jeans and be ok and others say only the best camo will do. Ongoing debate.

I use whatever I pull out of my hunting dresser. A friend of my had a great year last year including a 300+ bull, a 170+ whitetail buck, 3 whitetail does and two large caribou bulls. As I looked at the pictures he was showing me, I noticed he didn't have any camo on. He said he got tired of spending so much money on the newest and best camo patterns so he bought a $20 tannish insulated flannel shirt from Costco and tried it out. That convinced me where to spend the bulk of my money.
Just a thought.

Mostly Max-1 and all the Kings stuff.
I also use some predator at times.

I have built up quite a collection over the past few years, i have enough camo outfitts to change twice a day on a two week venture.
(and a healthy Cabela's credit card balance to match!)

Sorry dryboot, but i really don't have any camo undies. Lol

Soupcreek I'm starting to believe in that any camo will and would work. I don't have much and is so costly for me that I just buy tee's and put over the top of my coats and etc. Camo tee's are cheap and works fine. I have killed many animals this way but stay scent free with all clothing I wear. I have had bow shots with range on and never got busted.

I have to agree that the pattern does not matter that much. I have the leafy 3-d stuff, various Realtree patterns, Mossy Oak, Seclusion 3-d, Predator, and I have been as successful with a plaid flanel shirt and jeans. I now buy what is on sale when I need some. I will be wearing a set of Army ACUs in universal digital camo this fall while I chase my bull and buck.

I cover my naked body with mud, sticks and brush from the area! Problem is the ants won't stay still!

Nebo's got the key.....scent free! That being said, I think it's important to look good for the camera and an assortment usually works great. I've called in bulls in a pair of wranglers and a white t-shirt before. I did have on a camo hat so that must have been it. In the most recent issue of MDF magazine Todd Black (alias Blanding_Boy) wrote one of the best articles regarding camo that I've seen. It really "breaks things up" with regards to what deer see and the camo that should be most effective. He doesn't list any companies but you know what to look for in a camo when you're done reading it!

It's always an adventure!!!

Plaid wool shirt in drab colors, brown pants. Camo is overrated but the Companies are marketing geunises. Just don't wear blue cuz deer see color in the blue end of the spectrum. Now birds, waterfowl and turkeys, are different, camo is good and needed.

I have a little of everything however I prefer Natural Gear!
Just everything is so expensive I'm not going to replace everything with it..BUT I HAVE ENOUGH!

most of the highly marketed patterns listed here aern't worth a crap. granted, the patterns appeal to people's eyes, but the only reason to buy them at all is that they are usually printed on fairly high quality fabrics. they're fine if you are playing paintball and your quarry is within 100 yards. but out in the open, most camo turns to a dark solid color at distances >100 yards. in open country...often times you are busted at >100 yards...cuz your camo isn't doing squat. large broken up patterns that break up your silhouette (like predator) work best. i have pics of me and my crew on a packout, taken from several hundred yards above. Everyone but me (in predator) looks like they are wearing grey overalls and stick out like a sore thumb. that being said, i wish they would print the predator pattern on some decent garments for once...their jackets are horrible.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-01-08 AT 08:49PM (MST)[p]the absolute best camo is the one that is on sale!

Personally I buy anything on sale that looks closest to outfitters camo. Break up your outline, without breaking the bank. Otherwise a fool and his money is soon parted.

The particular fabric and its function for my hunt is by far more important than the pattern.

This all why I use mud, sticks and brush from the area. If you don't want to put it on skin then wear tan! Honestly deer and other game like lions don't have sticks in their pattern! GO NATURAL!!!

I do use Natural Gear but the key is match your pattern to the sun. Don't set your camo to the shade OH and uh be still. Any neutral color works if you don't move!

last year I tried that urban pink camo they sell at the mall, the elk didn't see me...but i got my ass kicked in camp.
