good areas to hunt on the paunsaugunt?

below the cliffs....find a canyon and get up high and pick the brute you want as he walks along the bottom..that easy!
or along 89 look for the you want waiting for dark so he can cross!

what do you mean by along 89 look for the you want waiting for dark so he can cross.

thank for your info

along highway 89 almost out of the unit you can see alot of deer bunched up wait for dark so the can cross the hi-way...you will see road kill like you never saw before if it happens at the right time.. DWR put out a lighted (blinking)sign that says careful deer migration now!....stick to the canyons below the cliffs down 89 east about 12 mi pass Kanab and glass them from up high and you will see some very nice deer..I saw a 4 pt every five minutes.. when I HUNTED IT IN 2000'!I heard its down so I would shoot the 1st 22/24" 4x4!

is it by the kane beds or jonson canyon and thank you for your help i will send you some pics of the buck we see

I'd be surprised to see/hear of that heavy of a migration during the rifle Paunsaugunt hunt in early October. During the muzzleloader hunt yes, but during the rifle hunt, not impossible but not all that likely either.

The rifle hunt in this unit is the toughest of the three for seeing numbers of great bucks and tagging one. The deer tend to still be in the higher elevations, although there are deer scattered throughout the unit from north to south. Arriving a few days early and starting high and moving south looking for deer numbers is a sound strategy IMO. Good luck on your hunt and post a photo of the buck you bag!

The pauns down. Now that's funny ;-)

Hunt super low or super high. The big bucks either head out first and fastest or hang out high till the crowds go home.
