Well I am back from my hunt in Wyoming empty handed. It was not all a loss as I had a great time. A huge thank you to Wan Wolfley from Wolfley Horse Rentals. I have never owned or hunted on horses and have always wanted to. The horses worked out like a dream come true.

1911 is going to post some pics for me then I will add a bit.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-06-09 AT 10:35PM (MST)[p]The first picture is kind of how the weather was for the most part. We set out two days early, being teased with nice weather. The last 3 pictures are from the first day we got in. The cabin is an old Ranger Look out station. This is one place I like to visit each time I go up there. It is open, in the center is a table and by the door is a bundle a newspaper, some matches, wood and a jug of water. Good place to get lost I guess.

The other two pictures are from camp and of the horses we rented. We did run into some smaller bucks but nothing big. On Sunday evening we saddled up in the snow storm and went for a short ride. The snow was falling and it was calm and peacefull. It was just fun being out enjoying the west and being away from work and the ratrace knowing the next day we would be heading home.

Sorry I could not post a pic of a big buck but not all good hunts end with a kill. 99% do LOL.

Just thought I would share some pictures with ya.

Wow! Looks gorgeous. Time spent in the hills on horseback is always worth it...buck or not. Too bad you didn't get one, but that still looks like fun.

3K right on the money. Opening day was cold and windy but fun. We rode in several miles and to my surprise did not see one single hunter. How that worked out I do not know?? It was nice.

Rug, i know how much you were hoping to get "THE BIG ONE" this year so kinda sorry to see that you only had a great time :) That country really is nice, Thanks for sharing your pic's!

My trip has had some delay but i should be outa here tomorrow anyway. Looks like i'll be in for some weather...

Nice pics! Is that a old crankup phone hanging on that shack? does it actually work?

Looks like fun Rug! Glad you guys had a good time and got home safe. I know for me, each time I go I learn a little more about the area I hunt. I'm sure the trip wasn't all unproductive hunt time. Thanks for posting up the pics.

It's always an adventure!!!

Thanks Flatlandr, that phone is just for show and tell. I wish it worked no cell service for a long ways.

That's what I figured rug, I couldn't get cell service anywhere in G until I got close to Big Piney. Imagine wandering up to that shack (a flatlander like me :) ) after being turned around a day or two and see that phone hanging there...major high then major low!!

If your in the Greys River area to to the top of McDougall Pass road and you can get cell service there. Last time there was able to anyway. VERIZON WIRELESS

Hey man, nice pics and thanks for the story. I still haven't tasted success yet. We can still go hit up the extended sometime and try to close the deal.

How much did the mule between the horses cost to rent?? Bucket headed ugly little sucker but it looks strong. Just givin you a hard time. Sounds fun glad you made it home in one piece. got some good pics to boot.

Well boys it looks like I got the next couple of days off. I am heading back in the morning going solo. I just have not decided if I will stick with the same spot or try somthing else in 135. Anyhow I just have to try again, hope the cab of the truck is warm. Any suggestions??

Good luck on your return. Nice pics and I'm glad you had a good time. With the snowier weather, you could find a stud this go-round. Hope to see some new pics of a big old muley soon.

Well guys I went back up yesterday and killed a small 4x4. Saw 40-50 skin heads and one buck. The kids smiles when I got home,,,,, priceless. Glad I took it.

SAweeeeet!
