help--- rino gps communication

They are pretty nice but I would seriously consider upgrading to the 530HCX. the high sensitivity gps antenna and the features are top notch. I have yet to be in an area I couldn't get a signal. And many of these areas were impossible with the 120.

is the 120 a 5W model? You also get 5W GMRS here in the states with a 520/530!

There are alot of features on the 530 that you just will not find on the lower models. I have the older model 530, and I can't even imagine having a lower model. The best feature that this model has over all the other ones is the ability to "poll location." What this means is you can update the status of others in your party from YOUR radio, without them keying the mic from their end. This has saved my family many times when we have left one of the radios behind and had to go back and find it. If for no other reason it is worth it just for this feature.

I have been using the 120s and I would steer clear of them. It is not a very good GPS or radio. The gps will not stay connected to satellites when you are in the trees or deep canyons and the radio does not receive well compared to my hunting buddies using motorolas.

I now use a separate handheld gps and radio.

I got the rhino 120 when it was new. When the 530 came out i got that and its a lot easier for me to see the color map . I let my boys use the 120.
What is nice when we push timber we can stay in a straight line by keeping track of each other on the screen. The guys with the 120 have to hit a button to up date there location.
For saftey we give my dad ( he is 72 ) a 530 and we can find him if he gets in trouble. You can push a button and say got to dad. It has arrow and tells you he is 386 feet in that direction.
A friend got lost in arizona on a pig hunt. In the evening a storm came in and he got lost, they could not get him on the radio. He spent the night . The next morning the got up high and got him on the radio, they told to him come there direction .They could see on the screen he was going the wrong way. So they stopped him and went to him.We they found him was hypothemic and had lost his gun in the darkness.
I like the saftey aspect of having your radio and gps togther.
