I am starting to plan a hunt in Wyoming for 2010 . This will be my first deer hunt there. I have no points I am only looking for a general unit with a good chance to kill a four point buck. Not looking for anybody's secret spot, just hoping for advice on a starting point for me and my daughter to start looking at this winter. I am leaning toward region E.
Any advice or insight is much appreciated!

If you are up to it Greys River and Wyoming range are good.Good access to public lands and if you work the rims early before snow up bucks are there and have some size and the daughter should get a shot.Raised my daughters there and we had some real good hunts.

Thanks for the input guys.
I don't mind working for a buck, but i do need to keep it within reason on this particular hunt. I will be taking along two girls (12 and 13). With that in mind I don't see why they couldnt hike/walk 2-4 miles a day. I do know the harder i push them the shorter the trip may be.
Have any of you guys hunted 128? I notice some of this unit is wilderness so I will need a guide to hunt the north and south ends of this unit. What should I expect to pay?

Dubois area is tough.Dunoir has good populations but expect lots of private ranches with plenty of deeded land.Permission used to be tough.Don't know now.It has been awhile.144,143,144 easier access. You can hunt sagebrush to alpine.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-26-09 AT 06:41PM (MST)[p]Thanx for the input guys! I'm going to region K this weekend to look around. I'll post you guys with my findings. Hopefully with some cool pics.

K has lots of private too and could take a couple points to draw.

E is a good Region with lots of access and can be drawn with 0 points most years.

H is also do-able with 0 points to draw.

Your girls will love the outting with Dad for sure.

With the taking of the young girls with you ,I would do an antelope hunt. Lots of animals and you should be successful and it is an easy going hunt.Seeing lots of game will keep ther interest.
I took my two sons on an antelope hunt when they were about this age and they never forgot that first Wyoming hunt.
