Well my archery season started off like normal,All the deer disappearing right before the bow hunt started, that ive been watching. And around september 1st i start seeing them again. On the way to take my kids to school i thought i would bring my bow and take the long route to school. And what do you know the 25" 3 by 4 is out feeding on the hill side. This one i have watched all summer long. And would love to get an arrow in him.I left my 2 year old in car seat as i snuck up on this deer,This all happened in less than 5 min.As i got closer i noticed there was a few more deer with the 3 by 4.I kept sneaking and got within 38 yrds of him and while i drew back another buck raised his head and he had 4 pts with eyeguards.I had a few seconds on choosing which one to shot at.The 3 by 4 had 2 inches wider than 4 pt but 4 pt will score better. So i choose 4 pt and as i released he stepped forward and arrow hit him in the guts,he ran over the hill.so i ran back to truck got my kids out boy 9,girl 7 and boy 2.They watched the whole thing from the truck. They were all excited and could not keep quiet.WE all went over to find my arrow. And found guts all over it.I thought it might be best to Check to see if i can see where he goes so i dont lose this deer. This whole time my 2 year old is crying with stickers in his socks and feet.I went and picked my boy up with bow in other hand, and walked to top of hill, suddenly i seen antlers over the top of sagebrush and it was the wounded deer.I quickly put my boy down and drew my bow as my son whined about having june grass in his socks. The deer turned to look at noise my boy was making but it was to late my arrow was already on its way and struck him right behind shoulder. He got up and ran 200 yards and lied down. During this my kids were now late for school,And all of them wanted to see my biggest buck to date with a bow.So i decided to let them wait with me and go to track deer in an hour. When the hour passed my three kids had no patience in waiting even 5 minutes let alone a whole hour. But we did and all 4 of us got on the blood trail. It was leaving alot of blood and kids were fighting over who seen the blood first. But finally above all the noise there the deer lied, perfect 4 pt 24" wide with eyegurds, and 5" bases.I was excited and my kids just went and sat on the buck and grabbed his antlers before even i did.It was just an awesome site all my kids there and my biggest buck with a bow,Was just great and wont be something i will forget for a long time. The buck scored 160 and some change and thats just icing on the cake. And yes i got my kids to school, and only being an few hours late.

That is a awesome story. Sounds like the kids were loving it. Congrats on the great buck as well.

Nicely done, thats the way it should be!

Nice story! Good job! Reminds me of some of the hikes I took my kids on and had to pack them out on my shoulders - except without a nice big buck to boot! LOL.

That is an awesome family experience. Spend the money and get that buck on the wall - those kids will keep that memory with them always and will have that buck as a reminder of their dad's love for them.

Which school, exactly, do your kids attend? I could find another great place to hunt! LOL

Really, congrats on a nice bow buck and a funny story.

That's a great story and I bet the kids learned more with you that morning than they would have in school.

That what a dad does, teach his kids all the good stuff.
Those kids will be telling this story for years.
Nice looking Buck will make a great mount.
