Trying to figure out which hunt to apply for. I have max NR points. Would like to go unguided. Would be pumped to get a 180 type buck! Probably couldn't go for the entire hunt, but could hunt for 5-7 days realistically as it is pretty far from home. 13a/b or 12aw/12ae? Thanks for any input. Brian

with Your bonus points, you are in the game to draw any of the Premium deer tags. Most will agree, that the 13A & 13B deer hunts should have some local knowledge to help make this once in a lietime deer hunt be the best it can be.Lots of country for small populations of deer to disappear in ??? the 12A-W deer population is coming back and also the East side hunt.If not wanting a guide,my recommend would be to apply for the Kaibab hunts, lots of deer in 12A,East and West and country is alot more Hunter Friendly.Good Luck in your dilemma of what Az. deer hunt to apply for with MAX BONUS POINTS.You have waited along time, make the most of this opportunity for one of the most "COVETED" deer tags in the West --- Bruce & Silvergrand

I think I would wait till I could spend more chime on the hunt. That's a long time to wait for a tag and be limited to 5-7 days of hunting.

What? Max AZ deer points and just a one cheeked 5-7 day effort? Are you kidding me? Point it this year and do it right when you can!

You don't have to be a jerk about it, maybe he or she has a job or a family they need to saport. 5 to 7 days is a long time. And I second the first guy. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys, not totally sure I will apply this year, may just get a point. Yes I do have a young family and very busy job! Brian

Little sensative maybe?? He wasn't being a jerk and he's right.

Wait all those years and all that money you put up for licences to only go for a week? Brother, I would deffinately wait a year, sock some money away and hunt the 13's with a guide. If you're determined to DIY (which I do respect and I would do too)then hunt the one of the 12's but I'd still wait till you can put in the effort you deserve. Thats a long time and alot of money you've put up to only spend a week hunting.

Shoot with those points and one of those tags.. I'd time my looking for a new job around it and take a month off...lol. Really though, how many different jobs will you have in a lifetime and how many of these tags will you draw... funny but true. Sh!t, fake a mental breakdown. Go into work drooling one day wearing a polkadot dress... they'd give you a month off.

I am in agreement with others. Wait until you can put in the time neccasary for success. Sent you a PM as well.

Weather can really be a factor. If you only have 5-7 days and it is blowing/snowing with 45 mph winds, you may lose 2 days on the Kaibab. Wait till you have the time........ Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Wasn't trying to be a jerk. With the current draw system, you get one chance as a nonresident. You are in the top pool, you can't buy that at any price. There are other places and other states where you can get a tag with a realistic shot at a 180 class buck. Save your AZ points till whenever you can do them right, be that take the time to DIY right, or save up and hire the right guide if time is short.

I have a buddy who was in the top pool a few years ago, drew out and hunted without doing it right...And totally regrets it now. He will not get another chance at that tag again...ever.

No need to rush it. Again, there are lots of other places for just a hunt where you won't have regrets about not putting in enough.

BTW, they made significant cuts in the proposed tags for the 12's this year....

Definitely continue to build points until you can do it right. You are sitting on a gold mine! I envy you!

I do not consider the Kaibab hunts trophy hunts at all. Things have REALLY gone downhill there in the last 15 years. I personally would consider them a total waste of your points.

13A & 13B, however, are where it's at, no question. Plan on hunting the entire 10-day season if you draw, and you can probably achieve your goal.

LMMFAO!

when u say u have max points r u including the hunter safety course point? that will decide if u will draw 13a or b u might be able to draw a 12 tag without it maybe

Hey Brian---

I am just below you in the points on deer.

If I bottom out on Ut and Nv. draws I am thinking of doing my Az. deer points on the bow buck in 13a.

If it all fell in place----

As far as the 5-7 days-------I get alot of harvest with my bow in under 5-7 days......

Give me the 7mag. and it would be alot sooner in most hunts.

Go for it!

Robb
