Ibex is finally back at the house

The Ibex my youngest son shot last year when he was 11 years old is now in the house.
My friend Melvin (Jewels of the Wild) who is an Artist up here in Mayhill basically built the habitat on a pole that we never finished that supports part of our trophy room. The results are awesome. It really finishes out the room.

The actual full body mount was done by Out of this World Taxidermy in Roswell.
Real happy with how everything came out.

This is the very top of the habitat. It is a piece of Juniper that with a little bit of sanding turned into a piece of Abstract Art. A owl just like in Harry Potter.

The background is an actual photo of the mountain that Zach killed the ibex on blown up on a canvas.

That is an awesome mount, habitat, and animal. I have really enjoyed the Zach hunts this last year. I hope he pulls some great tags this week so we can go along on the 2010 adventures of Zach.

I get mine back from the Taxidermist next month. I did a half mount on my Muzzleloader Ibex. When I get it back I'll PM you the pictures. It won't hold a candle to your son's mount, but he sure will look good on my wall.

WOW, what a true piece of artwork. Looks like it came straight from a Cabelas store, but to know that your son and you took that fine animal makes it that much better. Enjoy it and I would love to take a look in person this fall while hunting. Congrats again on such a wonderful piece of art.

Dang! Paul, you lucky duck. I saw that thing without the animal on it of course on K-Mart's blue light special yesterday but couldn't go the 39.99 on it. That thar sheep thang is a bull-right? Wasn't there a small special effect included?

Melvin at Jewels of the Wild did not skimp on any details. After Zack killed the ibex we filled our pockets with ibex candy, pills, and pellets. He managed to make them part of our permanent memory and part of the habitat.

"Out of this World" is a great name for that taxidermy. Maybe that looks like an Ibex on his planet, but not ours. Why are the ears coming out of the neck? Great animal, bummer mount.

Quad, I cant say I disagree. I went back and looked at some field pics and the ears are set pretty far back.
