Here's Cody's giant buck he arrowed in 2011. What a stud.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-08-12 AT 02:52PM (MST)[p]Seems this is Cody Robbins buck and that it was killed in Sask. this should have been posted in the Sask. Forum right mtmuley?

Nice buck it looks like he stripped the velvet and had it sprayed.

Edit for mis-spelling

I believe this was suppose to be the new Pope and Young world record non-typical. Based on this photo, I think Cody opted to bypass the record books and keep the velvet as world records cannot have velvet on during the measuring process.
One heck of a mule deer and congrats to Cody Robbins.

I haven't checked out his latest posting on Cody's site but I guess that is the replica mount. The real buck is being lifesized. Sweet job on the replica though.

I think P&Y has a category for velvet game. This buck netted high 280's and should be the new WW.

It is an absolute gorgeous mule deer....congratulations to the hunter! Unfortunately, velvet entries are not eligible for world record status within P&Y. Too bad, I would have loved to measure it at panel in 2013.

If P&Y accepts certain game animals with velvet why would'nt these animals be eligable for WW status? Not trying to argue just want to get my $hit straight on the rules.

The P&Y Club accepts velvet entries for all antlered species. Those entries will appear in one printing of a record book, without a ranking. After that, they are removed from the printing, but are retained in the archives (DVD). The Club will only recognize one World Record of each respective specie (typical & non-typical). Velvet entries are not eligible for world record status since there is already a World Record specie designated (non-velvet). Hope this answered your question.

Again, an AWESOME buck. Congratulations to the hunter for a buck of a lifetime. I wish it was going to panel in 2013, I'd love to measure it.

Roy,
Since this is the reproduction, I've heard serious speculation that the real thing might just be stripped. So, who knows, you might get to see it at the panel scoring.
Regardless of what he chooses to do, I'm sure the lifesize will look just as spectacular. I'm anxiously waiting on the new issue of Big Buck so I can see more photos and read the story.

I asked Cody if he stripped the velvet when he had it officially scored and he didnt, he left the velvet intact.

What a buck, I could sit and look at him all day.

WOW Holy crap! What a stud!

That is the best looking muley mount I've ever seen!

The right main beam tip looks like a hand and finger motioning "come here".

Thats definately a heck of a buck , I believe this is not the actual buck but the reproduction of it ..

That thing is a toad!

I've seen replicas made, but the process that I have witnessed I would think would ruin the velvet? I don't know how, when pouring the original casting the tiny hairs and peeling hunks of velvet ould not become encased and tear off, not to mention make the final product look pretty poor, but maybe there is another process that I am unaware of.

Seeing as there is a replica I have to wonder if the buck has since been stripped for WR scoring?

That is because it lived in Canada. Bucks up here shed out that summer hair and put on their winter coats early. :)

Wasn't that the guy who filmed a lot for Jim Shockey? If so, glad he was able to harvest such a great animal. I'm sure he paid his dues.

Great transaction, fast payment, A+++++

Wish I was young again. I'd move to Saskatchewan and chase those bucks. And a couple of those young ladies on Cody's team as well. It's all good and I still want to go there just to look at those deer during August. An amazing buck. Congrats and richly deserved.
